Status Update #69

Hello there.

This week we have a different kind of status update.

After a long internal discussion, we have decided to pause the pledges on the NFG Patreon. The reasons range from personal to preventative, but the main reason is that we believe this is the best decision for Summer Heat in the long run. Pausing pledges will allow us to finish the update without external pressure or distractions.

What does this mean?

Until the release of 0.7, the following changes will take place:

The status of 0.7 remains TBA/TBD until we finish the remaining work.

The next time you hear from us, we'll have the update ready for you. And for those who are going to miss the status updates, we'll tell you all about it when it's ready. But it'll be more in the form of a devlog.

And to finish on a more positive note, the special renders for January featuring Eve were posted earlier! You can find her below.

Cheers and thank you for your patience,

Npx & Rob

Status Update #69

If you are upset about this you are childish. Let them do what they need to do without the buckets of tears and hate. If it bothers you that much, go play another one or make your own.

Last time I checked, I don’t think NFG made people pay month to month. It’s YOU that made the choice to support the project financially.

OMG it had to be 69th post.. lol!

Good luck, devs. You're making a great game. Definitely among the top 5 AVN's I've played through, and there's been a lot of them. When you feel an overload of pressure, creative juices can dry right up - trust me I know, I've been a musical creator/producer for years - and I know all about as well, when something feels "rushed out the door". I could name a few examples but ... nah ... I for one, would love your story to attain greater heights as it goes along, and I know you've probably got some great things cooking. You have never felt pressure from me, and you never will. I know you will not succumb to the brute force of "where is it???", you'll carry this out smoothly and most of all, have FUN doing it! That way, you are assured to have a quality finale, and not have gone all Game-of-Thrones on us. 😏 Ok .. maybe just one example ... 😁 Good luck in your journey, devs. 🎹

See you, guys, on the other side

I can only imagine all the negativity has taken an emotional toll on you both. I look forward to the release of 0.7, whenever that happens. In the meantime make sure to look after yourselves.

I'm really sad that this was the message y'all got from everything. People haven't been upset as much about the missed deadlines as the fact that y'all have continued to charge people while not delivering. You wouldn't get nearly as much negativity if you paused payments until release but continued to communicate your process. If things are taking longer, so be it! But to continue to take people's money WHILE things were taking longer is where people got upset. "Hey, we missed this deadline so we're going to pause payments until we release. In the meantime, we'll continue to provide you updates on how things are going. Please bear with us!" Is a lot more of a positive message than whatever this post was. This post comes across like "We're just gonna take our ball and go home." At the end of the day, this is your baby so do with it what you will. But cutting all communication until you're ready to drop (who knows when that will be) is just not a great look. Anyways, I love your game, I've been happy to support you in the past, and I'd really like for your game to continue. These are just my thoughts.

Wolfie

Yeah, this feels like "well, we made our money so now we're gonna bounce." Pausing payments until the game drops is a good step. Pausing any and all communication at the same time is...not great. Wish they'd take a page from someone like the STWAdev and pause payments if things are taking too long, but keep communicating about the process. People aren't upset about the missed timelines as much as they're upset about the fact that they've been giving money and not getting what was promised in return.

Wolfie

Well, this is thoroughly disheartening. I just hope this game doesn't go the way of most other games that start the "pause billing and go radio silent" route.

I actually think this is a fair and right decision to make. Pausing the pledges on Patreon, I take this as a true action of showing determinations. Doing art could be harsh from time to time. Also, it’s really hard to estimate the progress when there’re too many side branches that needs to be done. I really want to play v0.7 as soon as possible, but I am still willing to wait for it. I believe in your decision, not because I am too blind to see your failure to update before 2026 as you promised, but because I see your heart in your craft. Such excellent passion and dedication should not be overwhelmed by criticisms that went too far. Some of the criticisms definitely make sense and I agree it's very important to optimize the developing process and schedule management. It's just that there are too many negative comments and are only hating and mocking. Those comments really went too far if you ask me, especially from a bunch of people who didn't actually join the patreon and support it. I will keep following your work, and looking forward to hear from you guys again. Good luck and hope to see you soon.

Maybe I read it differently but how I've interpreted it is that they release so many preview scenes during the development cycle. The one featuring Ms. Hill that we've had was the last preview during this development cycle. Lots/some Patrons are becoming more frustrated with the extended development time beyond what they anticipated and many it seems are unhappy with being charged when the update release date is not forthcoming and beyond what they expected/wanted. For this reason, NFG have decided to stop charging Patrons whilst they finish the update. I'm guessing they hope that will stop people from unsubscribing whilst they work to finish the update. I'm also guessing that they are probably getting bombarded with private messages from frustrated individuals who have lost patience which is distracting them from their work. I guess they are hoping that by doing this, they can just focus solely on finishing the update. Once the update drops, I'm fairly confident that people will be happy 🙂 At least I hope so. That's how I interpreted it anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️

2 weeks ago you was telling us "Next week will be the last preview/teaser for 0.7, featuring Ms. Hill." which was sounding you are nearly done with the update. Now if im reading it, it tells me you was already known 2 weeks ago that you will not do anymore teasers because you anyway will not finish. With the statement from today that doesnt realy sound honest. That leafs me with more questions than answers, sorry. I mean you never was dropping realy a time how long you would need but it always was sounding you are realy far in progress and the update is not far away. But now it more looks like a scam in some way, just doing some renders and write a text every week is enough to hold everyone by the side. Maybe its different but for me it looks like that now.
