This will be my main sketchbook of the year. It's really thick and not much to look at. It definitely has more function than form.
I used sketch paper, mixed media paper, toned paper and some high end watercolor paper for the papers and I used the Coptic method to bind it together.
Mainly I just wanted different types of paper for different things all in one place. So I can work out ideas in one place rather than have 3 or 4 sketchbooks.
I filmed the process so I'll make a video about how I made it.
I've been looking at old sketchbooks today for a video I'm working on. It's interesting to see how my work has grown and how my approach to art has changed over the years.
It really made me feel like I've found my own path a little bit more. But it also made me see a lot of themes and ideas that I return to.
I watched that Netflix series "American Nightmare" last night while sewing together this sketchbook. Absolutely crazy on every level.
I accidentally kicked one of my cat's cat food cans and screamed.
I started listening to a history podcast about the rise of the Nazis. Too many parts sound way too familiar. It should all sound super outlandish to me. I should be thinking "I can't imagine..." rather than "sounds familiar."
Last night I ate too much pizza and felt sick.
I won an argument in my head in the shower.
Have Fun,
Goodnight Sweeties
