Amazing chapter ☆ Had to start off with this. Love that Jess plants her metaphorical flag in that what she decides now (taking off the bikini) and for the future are for the goal "to be both, the respected professional and the confident sexual being, the devoted wife and the woman who enjoyed being admired." Awesome work on Jess. Although I could probably count on my hand how many ladies in the LW genre that have become truly favorite characters of mine, Jess has no doubt entered that cast and shot to the top of the list. • This probably could've been said for the last chapter but it is nice to see Jess and Tom both now commiting to their plan of pleasure not being one sided. Going from Tom saying "Do whatever makes you feel good." to now Jess saying "If you wanted me to." Really makes it feel like that they've finally found their common ground. • I think Tom telling us how much he's grown to appreciate Bob in the beginning reinforces the possibility of Bob potentially never breaking character, at least not until he's forced to or discovered. Considering how genuine, respectful, insightful, and caring he presents himself to Jess and Tom it's hard to imagine the couple having the same feelings and inclination they do with Bob now if they were to discover his true nature. • I re-read some of the early chapters prior to reading this one and I found it funny that Tom, while listing how everyone wins, mentions how Bob gave her advice for men like Webb. There was also Margaret who gave Jess insight men like Webb and also reflection that caused her to completely change her views about Tom's work trips and look at them under a positive light. I think this could very much set up Margaret to become a more pivotal role and even serve as Jess' angel on her shoulder whereas Bob is the devil on Tom's. • I don't believe Jess and Tom's dream of having a family has been mentioned in a while but it's nice to see it make its appearance again. This could be another thing that keeps the couple united and prioritize each other even when some things fall into place. - To use Ashley and Jacob from BBA as an example, I feel they as a couple didn't have that kind of backbone in their relationship to have Jacob or Ashley to rebound on once the all things went to hell. Which made Jacob's exit and Ashley's willingness to continue seeing Carlos that much easier to believe. Whereas with Jess and Tom, it's been made clear that things have already went to hell with Tom's crypto fiasco but yet are still very much in love with each other. - I believe Bob is unaware of this and I imagine finding out (in the not too near future ofc) could offer him some new perspective. • Iirc, Tom's potential promotion is going to still have him flying out of town frequently so I can see him getting that (deservedly if you ask me) and still using that as a plot device for Bob and Jess to have some alone time while he's out. • "The thought steadied him somewhat, providing perspective. What was happening with Bob was important, yes, but it wasn’t the entirety of their lives. It was a chapter, not the whole story." This is awesome. Essentially some 4th wall stuff. • Bob says "Let her come to him. Let her make the first move. That had been his strategy from the beginning. Never push, never demand, just create opportunities and let her step into them of her own volition." I think this reinforces that he knows she's not as vulnerable as Tom so he chooses to let Jess dictate what happens. I also believe this could definitely work against him in the future. • LOVE to see Bob step out of character for once and recognize human emotion when Jess tells him how appreciative she is of him. Although its incredibly brief, I think it's just as an impactful development for future entries. He also immediately throws it away but just like himself when he even mentions he knows he's planting seeds in Tom's mind, this could easily be the pinpoint start of Jess unknowingly planting seeds in Bob's that perhaps takes on an interesting development for his character. With Tom's words about Bob earlier, I imagine Tom could also strike a similar chord to Bob that gives him another moment of reflection. • Minor detail, but I really love your character transitions. They always read like they could easily be the end of a chapter and leave you wanting more. • Bob is very reluctant when talking about Sarah and is quick to change the conversation. All though we know what happened (from Bob's side at least), I reckon this could be fleshed out or even lead to Jess or Tom to discovering how it shaped him into who he really is today. I wouldn't say its like a "weakness" for Bob but it's certainly something he's haunted by even decades later. • Can definitely see what other readers are saying about the repetition of sequences. While I believe Tom's could've been glossed over or skipped since we got his at the end of Chapter 11, I personally like to see how the words had an effect on Jess and Bob. She calls it dirty talk for Tom, but it's revealed here that the words did turn her on much like it did for Tom. • Reading the first few chapter again was so clutch. Jess reveals that she also has had feelings similar to the ones Tom has been having. This could easily come off as a surprise but reading chapter 2 again (I believe) actually states how her photoshoot with Georgio brought about those feelings. Maybe it wasn't his shoot specifically but these feelings of hers certainly are not new but just have been buried. • The massage and masturbation scenes were great. Almost no notes. What I will say though is that if we get this level turnout just from build-up only using two chapters, then I really can't wait to see what the payoff of what previous chapters bring to the table. - Also great to see Jess still keeing Tom in mind while masturbating and almost how the mere thought of his inclusion was what brought Jess to her climax. • To compare to BBA again, I think it's great to read that although she's beginning to compartmentalize like Ashley, she's doing so in a way that's not destructive. Instead of separating her husband and Bob (like Jacob and Carlos) Jess chooses to compartmentalize herself. Of course that's easy to do with a husband who's eager to see things happen, but I think I still goes to show how much of a contrast there is between the characters. • Although Jess is leaving for now, it's fantastic to read that not only did she overwhelmingly enjoy the day's events but is also very much looking forward to things evolving once she's back. Can't wait!
