To them the chase is the foreplay, the subtle words and actions that lead their target (or victim) to the kill. And it’s one thing to lure another politician or businessman into their web, their lair, for blackmail or other purposes. But quite another to do that to an intelligent woman who can hold a conversation , and a beautiful woman who knows she’s beautiful. It’s also gratifying for those with power to actually have a smart beautiful woman actually listen with interest to all the bragging. Most beautiful women would be bored with such come-ons and bragging. Such is not the kind of pickup lines that would generally work. Where else would such men get such attention? From their wives? No way. From their underlings? Sure but they know it’s just insincere fawning. The women in the club are also insincere and everyone knows it but it’s just another fantasy in the club at a much higher level. Evie knows this, which is why she’s so successful is so short a time. It’s also why I believe she’ll turn to the dark side. Much more rewarding in many ways.
