Friends:
Woodwork for Humans is a hit! All the recent videos in this series have gotten more than 10k views in their first week. My video on the $30 bench got 12 thousand views in less than 24 hours. I'm stoked!
Also, if you didn't see it, I did a premier for the $30 Workbench. I didn't know what to expect, but over 250 people showed up and they were from EVERYWHERE. Finland, Holland, Portugal, Brazil and Serbia were all represented. I mean, Serbia!?! This channel is turning into the United Nations of Woodwork. I love it.
But the work goes on. The $30 bench is great, but it still needs a lot of work. First thing; flattening. But your average smoothing plane won't do the job. We need a rough plane for efficient stock removal. So, we're going to convert the lowly Stanley 12-404 into a down-and-dirty scrub plane. All you need is an old black plane iron, a file, and some string. Really; that's it.
When we're done, you'll have one plane that can do two very different things. We'll flatten the $30 bench and got on with work-holding.
Tally-ho!
