I had such a good time making the 3 tool bench that I decided to follow it up with another 3 tool build. This time, I'm making a mallet with the same hatchet, saw, and drill. When my mallet is done, I have something to hit my hatchet with, which makes it a lot more useful.
This looks like the start of a new series for me. I'm going to call it "Woodwork for Humans" and it's going to be about the most bare-bones woodworking possible. Soon, we'll add a basic plane and a bigger saw to the kit and I think I'll build a really simple and compact workbench as the next big project. When you get away from fancy, ultra-perfect cabinet-making, the possibilities seem endless.

I'm actually going to make a low bench, so it will work as a saw bench, too. I think the shave horse will come this summer when i can work outside. Thanks for such great suggestions!
