TRS-80 Model 1 Expansion Cable Repair

I recently picked up this Model 1 (which is exciting on multiple levels, one of which being that I now have at least some example of the three computers released in 1977!) and I'm still getting to know it. But I had to make a new cable for the expansion interface. It wasn't going to be a long project and I don't normally film things like this. so I decided to try something new and make a shorter "reference" type video. To keep the actual project of making the cable from getting bogged down from filming I didn't narrate live like I normally do and instead did everything in post. This won't be a "main" video, I'll release this in between regular big videos. It didn't take up much extra time.

That is other than the new things I did since this is a lower risk video. I came up with a new way for post voice work to get done quicker for non-scripted videos like this and It really worked well. The final voice recording session was about 3X the length of the video with doing retakes, so it wouldn't be good for something like the VCF footage. But for smaller stuff like this it needs much less up front effort. Also in this video is, I think, the first mobile camera work done on the channel. I got an okay quality should rig about a week ago and have been playing around with it a bit. This is not stabilized footage, this is as it came out of the camera (the BMPCC 4K doesn't have stabilization). I'm pretty happy with the result but if it isn't well received I could attempt digitally stabilizing it. But that would really hurt the framing because I didn't shoot with that in mind and post-stabilizing will require a lot of zoom in for the moving shots.

Other than that I know there are a few rougher spots in this video but I was trying to not have it take up a ton of time. I think I got a cut off by a few ms on an audio clip and the black cable on the dark table was hard to see in some shots. But I think it works overall.

The handheld stuff was all new for me. Some stabilization would probably help. But for this video it cut out probably 30m of work to move and setup the tripod for perfect shots for everything instead of just moving and pointing the camera at it. It's definitely not something I'll use in every video, but this was a smaller scale so it made sense to take the time saving route.

Great little video! The handheld stuff was a bit odd at first since your normal videos are rock solid on tripods, but it got the job done. You are really putting out some great videos in a hurry, keep it up!
