Arlong did have a sun tattoo on his chest and I love that you caught why he marked Nami. Rayleigh first mentioned Hachi being a Sun Pirate and Luffy casually said "Do you mean Arlong?" because he didn't know the timeline. In fact, in Nami's backstory in East Blue, a villager briefly mentioned that Arlong's crew was split from another Fishman group. Oda's so good at planning some things years early, it's incredible. The Fishman Macro that tried to kidnap Camie with Duval also had a Sun tattoo on his chest. The Boa sisters were taken by something underwater, implying they were caught by Fishmen like Macro.
