Orb: On the Movements of the Earth 1x22 "Neither of You Will Be Known to History" - reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to episode 22 of Orb!! Oh dang guys, I really don't know how to feel about this! First off, poor Schmidt, dang!!! Second, I really hate that Antoni is kinda right on some points, but that Nowak's whole life is flashing before him because of this! Like he really thought he was the good guy, and now they're just gonna say oopsie and blame it on him?! What the heck!!! Can't wait for more! Enjoy! ~ MH

Right?! Like I hate to feel for Nowak but this just feels wrong! I don't think Antoni ever really cared about the faith either, honestly. He cares about the bottom line. And yet Nowak, for all he's done, really truly believed in what he was doing. Poor Schmidt! Omg I know, like how does this show still make us feel for Nowak?! The whole thing is messed up lol.

UGH!!! This show lol. That's the thing about Draka and what I'm liking about her character; she can observe/take in things around her even if it's not her own sentiment. Nowak is still scary sharp! Poor Schmidt! I think you might be right about him. But he still went in there anyway! That's the thing, no one is totally one thing or the other on this show! But Antoni did have some fair points. OMG!! I've already hear the last few eps are quite mindbending! Don't you Chi me lol!!

“Perhaps it's too uncertain to call it the one and only truth...” “…but in the end, it's merely a mathematical postulate.” Etc etc. How weird is it that through time the forbidden outlook on the cosmos and heliocentric etc; has withered so much? His whole life Nowak has delivered the message to many. The world worked to eradicate anything that says otherwise. He had a common goal with colleagues to deliver the message. Now at his old age he’s pretty much being told everything that he’s done has been for nothing. And religious views aside he had conviction because he wanted a safe world for his daughter. For that to be tossed aside by someone like Antoni is rubbing salt on an open wound. So much about this does not feel right. 😬 Thinking back on it now Antoni probably wasn’t even that interesting whether religion or different takes on the world. He could do whatever he wanted. And now with his father gone and times changing he’s not that hesitant to accept this notion from Draka since it benefits him. I feel like Antoni honestly believes in the reasoning he expresses in his lecture to Nowak but that just makes the whole thing so much grim than it already is. It’s like every single horrible ordeal we’ve witnessed was just flicked to the side. All the years of anguish and hardship of each character was kind of immediately accepted because of profit. And oddly enough it also made Nowak’s life seem like it meant nothing. They killed because of different thoughts and now they’re accepted in a blink of an eye. Nowak dedicates his life to fulfilling his justice and he’s being told he’s been wrong and now seems so alone. Rest in peace to Schmidt who I’ve been rooting for these last few episodes now. I’m glad he fulfilled his duty— but even with his gruesome death I couldn’t help but feel bad for Nowak because he’s going through so much in his head right now. His life’s work has been labeled as nothing and it’s causing him inner turmoil. This is just so messed up.

Welcome back to Orb where we enjoy emotionally destroying you while giving your mind a workout. In the infamous words of the masses, must be a day ending in Y. “For all things work together for good.” Draka may not be a “believer,” but she can’t deny that her meeting with Jolenta and the rest of the HLF has had an effect on her resolve. Likewise, Schmidt is now questioning his resolve against the Church due to his encounter with Draka. Neither one of them are about to give up their beliefs but both now are asking questions they didn’t know before. Nowak is older and not as spry, but his mind is still as sharp as a tack. He was able to discern Draka and Schmidt escaping within seconds. The formation the heretics were using with their shields seems to remind me of something I’ve seen in Ancient Rome depictions - it’s basically a tortoise made up of shields. Draka doesn’t know or understand why they’re giving their lives over her, but she understands she has a responsibility to see it through now. Perhaps Schmidt was facing fear this time because he knew this was the end for him - when he was talking to Draka it’s almost like he knew he had seen his last sunrise. Of course, the big scene in this episode is the reveal between Antoni, Draka, and Nowak. Yes, Antoni is a greedy pig but his thoughts can also forward the cause. There are multiple examples in the scripture where a wicked person was used to forward plans for a greater good. Antoni isn’t exactly good, however, he isn’t “pure evil” - just like nobody can argue Nowak is a completely justified person after all he has done. I’m not going to justify Antoni’s methods - going after Jolenta was unnecessary and over excessive, but it does also explain some of why he was taking that approach: it appears that in the entire Church, he was the only inquisitor ever sent to deal with cases of heliocentrism. In the entire church. Let that sink in for a bit. When Antoni said this out loud, he started to realize the issues in this logic regarding his own father, and it seems that the Bishop was using his station to further his own personal vendetta. So Nowak is both a antagonist and a victim, and everyone he’s affected as a result is a chain reaction. You said you expect the last three episodes are going to destroy you, but I disagree: they’re going to have you begging us for help trying to figure them out. 😅 CHI.
