Orb: On the Movements of the Earth 1x16 "It's Time to Begin the Operation" - reaction & review
Added 2025-06-03 12:01:51 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to episode 16 of Orb!! WOW!! I expected another time jump and another story to unfold but....this was an interesting development! At first I was pretty happy to see someone fighting back against the heretic stuff, but dang, Schmidt and his group are a little....well...maybe overzealous lol??? I'm still not sure where our main protag fits into all this, but it's quite an interesting world we've found ourselves in all these years later! Can't wait for more! Enjoy! ~ MH

A time jump!? A huge time jump! Okay! Well definitely interesting stuff. A lot of blanks to fill but the major things I took from this is how we know have went the other way with the extreme measures. Definitely not sure if Badeni and Ozcy would have done things like this but these people have taken up the mantle now. I’m curious to see where this goes. Also , if that is Nowak man why do I feel for him. I can’t help but feel for him. He doesn’t know about Jolenta being alive right? That’s definitely so cold. Antoni you’re going down🔥.🔥

That's actually a great comparison about the Empire as well, I hadn't sorted that out in my own Star Wars reference lol. And yeah, there's a difference between having an objection and renouncing the whole kitten caboodle, as we can see. I was wondering the same thing about the poverty thing! Oh ok, I thought maybe it was the same place since the book was there, but dang, I have no clue how all of that made its way...let alone their names and info about them! It's definitely thought provoking!!!

It’s a thing. 🙄 The funny thing is, I was all set to make the Star Wars Saw reference but then you beat me to it. Great minds think alike? “What I cannot tolerate is needless tragedy born out of human misunderstanding.” Schmidt is a zealot, for lack of a better word. A lot of the things he is saying are factually correct, but what’s interesting is that his methods are extreme and have taken a lot of other lives in the process, so does that make him a hypocrite? It’s a question this show has been asking constantly. At the risk of comparing it to Star Wars again, we hear that the Church is not as “supported” as it previously was. In fact, it could be due to the mass inquisitions that we’ve witnessed up to now (just a small sample size of the whole scope) that gave the dissenting factions more power and popularity. If you recall in Star Wars, the Empire was embraced early on, and people only gradually became aware of what it was really doing. (The irony that their Jedi Hunters were called Inquisitors is not lost on me either.) It looks like we have a similar situation here. The flashback is telling you something of course, but it’s not revealable at this time. Schmidt’s “initiation” is mortified by the Church, as he’s making people renounce their entire belief system. “Say you don’t believe in the Bible” to a Christian-based society, in other words. This is kind of the difference between picking a side and being a person caught in the kiddie, most people probably feel some degree of disillusionment with what’s going on, but they don’t completely reject everything that’s been taught. I think the philosophical discussion about “if the Church is preaching honorable poverty, why do we have to line their pockets” is something a lot more people probably should ask. Once again we have the moral divide between what is actually being said, versus what is being interpreted and it’s not completely adding up. It’s leading to more “misunderstanding.” Class has no place when it comes to seeking truth, especially in regards to afterlife, which is what the Church is supposedly “selling,” so as the one guy said, “why do they need all the lavish decorations?” Enough philosophy talk, though, that’s a question people have to come up with answers for on their own. The show’s good at making you ask the question. The abandoned village where the one HLF member is reading this book is not the same as Oczy and Badeni’s hideout, I think - that was a single shed. But why do they know these names? And what is the book? (I know but I’ll let you figure it out.) You probably know this by now but that isn’t Nowak. And the person in the intro hasn’t appeared yet as of the end of this episode. :) Enough for today, there’s a lot going on! I know this show puts you through a lot every time you watch it - but you have to admit it also is good at giving you a lot of things to think about as well! :)
