Added 2025-05-30 12:00:13 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to episode 14 of Orb!! AHHHHHHHHHHH D: This was the one I was dreading you guys! But to think of how much sadness, but also beauty and hope, were in Oczy and Badeni's final scenes....it's enough to get me teared up!!! But they really thought they were gonna go and torture Jolenta after all that too?! I don't freaking think so!!!!!!!!! What an ep you guys - I'm devastated but genuinely curious to see how this whole thing with Nowak plays out! Enjoy! ~ MH

Hahah it's been a minute since we used Google Drive right?! You're right about the cheeks, but still :/ It's true that faith can mean different things to different people, but DANG whatever slippery slope some of these church higher ups found themselves on REALLY landed somewhere not even in the realm of what their source material teaches if you ask me! It's surprising that Nowak isn't really in charge but makes sense as to his whole working stiff attitude. Oof, those quotes hit hard!! Don't you dare CHI me lol!!

Their final moments were each so sad but kinda beautiful. I love that Oczy's work made it out somehow! Ugh there's even more hard stuff coming, sorry Manny!!

2025-06-07 18:05:07 +0000 UTCUgh I finally got up the nerve to watch. I revoke Leonie’s request privileges for a while. I’m sorry but these recommendations are too depressing and just hurt my heart. That was painful. I can’t even find the words to express how deeply unhappy I am that they both are gone. They did do a good job of showing their change within themselves. Ozcy was able to gawk with no qualms in his last moments. Badeni in his Badeni way left behind something else (not his) to find and could revealed the findings because of Ozcy. And it felt so right for him to leave Ozcy’s work behind. His curiosity was something in common and down to Earth so-to-speak. People are naturally curious like that 12 year old boy. As long as it’s out there people will find ways to make it happen. Beautiful. This was too much already. I don’t know what will happen with Jolenta and Nowak but bless that kid monk. Okay the hard parts over onto the next.

2025-06-06 09:05:37 +0000 UTCIt took me a minute to remember how to play this video properly but muscle memory exists. 😅 I don’t think Oczy’s cheeks actually got torn, the gadget was just pulled out rather harshly. For a show that deals a lot with “hard-to-watch” elements, it’s fairly tactful in not being gratuitous when it’s doing it. They show enough to get the point across, but don’t go overboard. This isn’t Jujutsu Kaisen, or Chainsaw Man, in other words. I think the overall moral of this episode comes from the conversation the two monks had right after the intermission: “what do you think faith is?” It can be interpreted differently. For a lot of the Church’s followers, they believe following orders is being faithful. Oczy and Badeni, on the other hand, had come to trust in something that was evident to their own eyes but a lot more intangible. Even the two inquisitors are questioning themselves - were they really serving the greater good or just being pawns? There’s a bit of irony with the death scenes so far in that we’ve left Rafal, Piast, Oczy and Badeni all looking up at the skies. They had come to terms with their own beliefs, something those still living here have to figure out for themselves. What is worth living for, what is worth dying for, and where will you cast your lot in the end? I do think the show kind of gave the two monks an “out” when one of them overheard Antoni talking about taking Nowak out of commission. It would’ve been better story wise if they had come to their own conclusion without the extra boost of proof, since that’s how faith works, but the scene will also serve to propel the story forward in future episodes, so I can’t fault it “too” much. As far as Antoni, I believe they did say he’s the bishop’s son, but it was too long ago to remember for sure. What’s more important to realize is that Nowak is not “in charge,” he has superiors he has to answer to as well. In this case, things just went a little sideways. There are a couple quotes from other media that apply to characters in this episode, I’ll let you figure out which ones apply where though: “Every man dies, not every man really lives.” “Many that live, deserve death. And many that die, deserve life. Can you give it to them?” Of course the most poignant one, since faith is an important part of this story isn’t a direct quote but it’s often used. “Death is not the end.” That’s probably enough to chew on, for this round. -CHI. :P
