Receipt Gnome
Added 2015-05-14 15:57:04 +0000 UTCA tiny doodle while at work. While I've tried very hard to keep things toned down with Wayfarer, I can't help but wonder if I'd get more support if I went with a ridiculously busty character and a closer to R rating.

I like it as-is, but then I'm already backing it. You might get a larger audience with more busty characters, but I'd hate to think that it was necessary to compromise the story or characters for that. Not having an adult rating might increase circulation if you go to print eventually?

2015-05-17 00:57:15 +0000 UTCI'm going to agree with Silvador on all this. I'm also going to agree with Colton that you always have the option of setting up side stories with any rating you want. Each story is its own sandbox, appealing to its own respective demographic. In fact, I would *encourage* some diversification, if Patreon has the ability to sandbox separate stories.

2015-05-14 21:48:09 +0000 UTCYes, it's true, sex sells. And purely for the fact of bigger, more exposed boobs and so forth, more people would probably come. But I don't think Wayfarer -needs- it. The concept is interesting and although, admittedly, I find myself a little confused at times, I think adding such "gimmicks" just to attract more attention would steal away from the potential of a really great story. I'm no stranger to the "story vs titties" thing. My more adult stuff gets read and faved a whole lot more than my more story driven writings. But although this disappoints me, I don't plan to change anything because I'm telling my stories how I want them to be told and because I want to tell them. No matter the medium you are using, do not EVER let the audience influence how you deliver YOUR tale. It's unfortunate that many people simply don't care for things that aren't covered from top to bottom in sex and big boobs, but the fact of the matter is that is the time we live in. But despair not for times change. Be it a couple of years from now, or 200 years from now, the possibility exists that your story will be far more popular simply for what it is. Do not compromise the integrity of your story for the sake of attention that only wants to see more boobs. You have other art for that.

I did some math a while back, and found that on average most artists' patrons make up about 2-3% of their total audience. So if you're already at 2% support, the trick is expanding your total audience...

So if you had someone force feed your gal a potion to increase her bust and put her in more sexual situations or added more violence it would get more attention due to most people go for the quick thrills of such stuff. I say keep going the way you are. Or you could always go the multiple universe way of things giving you more freedom To do crazy things to draw people in. End of the day its all your choice. All we can do is give ya ideas

You could get an increase in the older fans who love naughty adventures, but you might lose a few of the fans who are either younger or want less of that. You could always try a short R-rated side story for the comic and see how people react to it. Only, instead of a test audience who may not represent the fanbase, the fanbase gets to be the test audience.
