A Sega Genesis / Mega Drive port was planned in the 90s, but was cancelled and now piko interactive touched up the leaked beta and released it.
Here's a TL;DR version:
Pros:
- Incredible Parallax Scrolling;
- Great and varied gameplay;
- Soundtrack composed by Chris Hueslbeck
- This version adds an extra hitpoint which was sorely needed
Cons:
- While the music is great, it's a downgrade from the SNES and Amiga versions;
- Some of the level design is downright sloppy with issues exclusive to this version;
- This game is hard, very hard. VERY hard, even with the added hitpoint;
- While the parallax scrolling issues of the SNES version were addressed, it's still likely to cause a headache or two to some people.
Overall: A pretty good if flawed port of a pretty good if flawed game. (yes that repetition is on purpose)
