Also I just wanted to add that while all the other warriors were mindless zombies, Askeladd was framed as above it while still being a part of “Hell”. I think this fit his theme so well in life since he was always so self aware - he was a conniving bastard but was willing to do the ugly things for a better person. He was willing to follow Thors, he sacrificed himself for Canute, and now he’s again fighting to give Thorfinn a chance. HE IS THE GOAT!!!
