AMERICA! version 1

About eight years ago now, I guess, for a brief time I tried making music for commercials.  IT'S A CHUMP'S GAME, I tell ya!  Ad agencies would send out calls for some particular kind of thing, and anybody could submit a sample .. from the musician's point of view, what happens is you bust your ass writing & recording a track for the deadline, which is usually pretty short (2 weeks was the longest I ever saw) and you never get paid, because the client only buys the one they like - out of who knows how many submissions.

This is one I made for a client whom I won't identify (but they have the word "America" in their name) who wanted an "emotional, dignified, folksy" sound for a one-minute spot.  I slapped this together and submitted it.

The story continues ...

Actually it was a square-neck dobro with a heavy lap-steel slide. I never reached a level of proficiency on it that truly satisfied me, so this is an instrument I no longer own.

Bottle neck slide, right? Really like the sound ;)
