Hello, guys.
I can't log in to Facebook now, but I hope I will find the way. Thank you for everything. It is an honor for me to have such readers as you.
The chapters of book 15 will be published here with the usual schedule.
Unfortunately today I have no power to write you something positive. Here is my yesterday message from Facebook.
"Most likely, this is my last message here for the near future. How close? We here have long abandoned attempts to make plans even for tomorrow.
But, probably, in the most optimistic scenario, for the next year. If not longer.
Causes:
Our "government" has approved a law under which you can get a real term for calling for peace.
Also, a law has been submitted to the State Duma according to which people caught at rallies can be sent to the front - whether they accept this law or not, I think this is a rhetorical question.
I am trying to take my family out, but there are a number of obstacles for this:
1. We have to get married with my girlfriend - by law, we can't do it earlier than in a month (guys, April 6th, if nothing happens (haha) there will be a wedding.)
2. We need to get a foreign passport (I don’t know how to say it correctly in English - a document for traveling abroad) - the authorities have extended the deadline for obtaining a foreign passport to a whole month. And it is not known what will be there even next week.
3. In theory, I can only run to Israel, hoping for repatriation - in practice, it’s not a fact that it will work out.
In other words - most likely, by 90 percent, me and my family are stuck here.
About the translation
If Russian banks are disconnected from SWIFT in full, I will lose my source of income from Amazon. And even until recent events, this was my only source of income, since all the money received from the sale of books in Russia went to translation. And considering what's going on with the ruble...
In Russia, we have never lived richly, in any case - not ordinary workers and citizens - (we do not take into account corrupt officials and oligarchs). When I, 4years ago, was a history and law teacher , I got 500$ a month - 6,000$ a year. My mom's pension is 2,200$ a year.
Now my bride also works at school as an English teacher. In terms of the new course, her salary will be 4,800$ per year. And that's for today's course.
Now imagine that the translation of one book, taking into account all costs - translation, editing, cover, layout, advertising, taxes, etc, costs ~20,000$.
What will happen tomorrow - again, is unknown.
After all the sanctions, the very ones who plundered our country will not become much poorer. What difference does it make to them, one of the richest people not only in Russia - but in the whole world, how much bread costs in the store. 1$ or 2$. How much does gasoline cost - 1.2$ per liter or 3$.
Ordinary people will lose and suffer. Those who wanted nothing but peace and simple lives. Me, my family, my friends, my coworkers. Everyone. But when I think about it, I understand that not everything is so bad.
Today my close friend managed to escape with his family from Kharkov - it's a border city in Ukraine. And this is good. The first really good news for me in recent weeks.
Thinking about what he had to experience and go through in recent days, the issue of money and other things seems to me so insignificant and ephemeral.
So I offer my deepest apologies that, perhaps for a long time, I will not be able to tell you how the story of Hajjar ended.
Probably, from a business point of view, I should have published this post after the start of sales of the 14th book, and not before, but ... my conscience does not allow me to do this.
Now for sure - it was an honor to know you guys. As they say - see you
