Fame and Reputation

A quick little status update on what's to come in the new version, as I have been working on the whole reputation bit that we discussed over here. And first of all, let me say that I am grateful for all the input, comments and ideas, some of which I wouldn't have thought of myself.

I have now added reputation gains and losses to a whole bunch of interactions, but lo and behold, when I was going to test it out in game I realized that public image reputation won't actually have any effect what so ever until you reach Rank 3 fame... my bad for not actually checking that out before starting on it, but it's all good, as it pushed me to thinking broader on the whole concept of fame and reputation.

There is actually one branch of fame that makes sense if you want to be dealing to the celebrities, namely the middle one, which is all about networking and PR. So, in order for you to actually get some fame as well so you can get into the whole "Dealing to the Stars" schtick, this is my thoughts on how to implement this;

Get Famous

Whenever you assign a celebrity client to your list of clients, you will gain a bit of fame, the higher rank the celebrity has, the more fame you will gain. The only real way to gain fame with Basemental Drugs will then be from performing the "Seal the Deal" interaction with a celebrity.

Once you reach rank 1, you should definitely go for the middle branch of the Fame ladder which starts with "Networking" - from there all you need to do to gain more fame points is actually socializing with your celebrity clients.

Reputation Gains and Losses

When you have managed to get to rank 3, the reputation gains and losses will factor in.
Here is a  rundown on what I have done with that so far:

Small Gain

• Laundering Money

• Sharing Weed
• Sharing Shrooms
• Sharing MDMA (to clubbers)

• Sharing Amphetamine (to clubbers)

Bad Rep

Huge Loss

• Getting Raided

Large Loss

• Getting Busted

Medium Loss

• Exchanging sex for drugs

Small Loss

• Sharing Cocaine (to addicts)
• Sharing Amphetamine (to addicts)

Tiny Loss

• Too many witnesses when your Sim is dealing
• Sharing MDMA (to non-clubbers)
• Sharing Cocaine (to non-clubbers)
• Sharing Amphetamine (to non-clubbers)

By setting it up like this, you can really decide for yourself if you want to go down the path of fame and a good or bad public image in terms of dealing to celebrities, or to steer clear of it completely. Personally I think this is a really good approach to the subject matter of fame and reputation.

If all goes according to plan I should most likely have the new version up and running in a couple of days.
