I know this is super late; But Maya's Magic is called Meteor Line, and it's basically an unblockable, unstoppable light beam that's stronger in darkness. It's not wrong to say that she's top 3 strongest magicians in the world, maybe even number one. She tried to kill Tatsuya by targeting his brain (if you remember from S1, the only way to stop his Regrowth is to destroy his brain before it activates), but Tatsuya's main magic, Decompositon, allows him to read magic sequences and destroy them before they're fully completed. In other words, his magic is the only counter to hers. He deactivated/destroyed the meteor stream before it reached his brain. Also to note: Tatsuya's magic is strong, but has a slow start up time. Maya is one of, if not the fastest caster in the world. That's why he said that she held back on him
