Akira was animated at 24 frames per second, making it one of the most smoothly animated traditional animation films of all time. Notice how the animation acutely does Lip movement based on video footage to mimic the vocals. The story is probably a little bit lost in translating the Manga graphic novels into a single standalone story . But the animation makes this an absolute classic in artistic expression. Hard to believe this is hand drawn animation.

It's only the one scene that comes to mind that I can remember. Other than that, its visually as stunning as Akira... and just as weird! And another great soundtrack come to think of it. Definitely a must watch in the anime category I think, even if you only watch it for yourself :D
