Next Musical Movie!!

If you end up watching all of these, I will be thrilled - and won't mind the order. All the other musicals that have won haven't been my cup of tea (besides Sweeney Todd) but these are solid.

You really can’t go wrong with either West Side Story or The Sound of Music IMO. Both Oscar winners for Best Picture and deservedly so. Also both directed by Robert Wise. With the great Jerome Robbins thrown in also for good measure. If you like dance though it has to be West Side Story.

I really thought they did what they could with the movie version. It's an adaptation so by definition things will have to change, but they stayed very true to the story, the characters, an emotions and delivered gorgeous musical numbers and great sets.

I hope at some point you do the PBS American Playhouse version of Into the Woods. (The movie version is deficient by far. They leave out the Narrator as a character... which strips Sondheim's humor WAY down.)

I don't think that's technically a musical but 'Walk the Line' is seriously one of my favourite films. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon really captivated me in that one. Great suggestion :)

Rocky Horror Picture Show is definitely a must see cult classic that has bled references into other works of pop culture. It would be like if somebody had never seen The Wizard of Oz. They would never understand references made to it. Lol

Sound of Music is one of my favorite musicals! It used to come on ABC every Christmas and the whole fam would watch it every year :) I’d love to see how you guys react to it :) Such a timeless classic 😍

Have you guys considered reacting to "Repo! The Genetic Opera?" It is labeled as horror/musical so it could also be used for your designated horror day. I'm not a musical fan (only like 4 musicals) so I've been putting it off because of that and it is similar to Repo Men which I have seen and liked.

Newsies (the movie), Hairspray, and it looks like Dr. Horrible isn't going to win but it's short and cute and I definitely recommend it. Also, have you guys done Chicago yet? That's one's really cool too. Or the Rocky Horror Picture Show! It's a cult classic. Weird and dark and a little PG13-R but it's a must see.

I would love to see Hairspray here, truth be told. It's fantastic. But West Side Story is also a personal favorite. So I really hope it gets chosen at some point.
