Day of Snack planning! Personal tasks! Music for yr plants! 🎧🌱❤️🍩

Hey friends,

Hope you’re all hanging in there. The sun is briefly shining here, and the first flowers of the season are starting to poke out of the ground, and I’m trying hard to take it as some kind of sign that the light is coming.

It’s the first newsletter week without an episode to promote, and as such, I have no idea what to tell you. I’ve been bouncing around between miscellaneous podcast work (reading upcoming trans books; sending patreon rewards; etc.), personal tasks (we love a broken furnace, don’t we, folks); even more personal tasks (making the chickpea salad recipe from the Who Weekly patreon and pretending that is “cooking”); and the most personal of tasks (listening to my therapist say that I should sometime rest and being like “hmmm no I don’t think so!”)

Speaking of which: I am weighing my desire to get the new season launched for Trans Day of Staying In and Having a Nice Snack vs my desire to take a little break next month, and also weighing my desire for doing Trans Day of Snack again vs wondering if Venmoing ~1000 people $10 is the best use of our resources. Does that seem cute and fun and worth it? Is there a better way to channel our mutual aid efforts for the “holiday”? Please feel free to chime in via the comments and whatnot.

Omg, and speaking of chiming in…….. I recently learned that my girlfriend has been replying to the newsletter email and wondering vaguely why I never respond. (Lmao.) So, to be clear for everyone (because she’s very smart and presumably not the only person to ever do this): I will not receive your email if you hit reply to this. I will receive it if you leave a comment or send a direct message via Patreon, or if you email us (genderpodcast@gmail.com). On that note, thanks to everyone who has sent guest suggestions and merch ideas recently; it’s been super fun to read your ideas.

This is the part of the newsletter where I share links to things that I’ve enjoyed recently! There are no articles this time, only fun little tweets and memes.

Photo ID: a photo of a crow dipping a chicken nugget into a small container of perhaps honey mustard, with text that says "I knew crows were smart but his one is actually dipping his nuggets"

Photo ID: A meme that says "Yeah, I'm into NFTs: NosFeraTu" with a pic of Nosferatu.

That’s it for this week. Thank you all so much for your support — we literally, actually, truly, definitely could not do any of this without you.

Here’s a super-fresh Weekly Rhubarb, taken moments ago. A long girl!!!!!!!!

Photo ID: Ruby standing on a porch railing. She's on her hind legs, with her front legs balanced against a wall, so that she's completely vertical like a tiny person. She's looking away from the camera and possibly sniffing the air.

Xoxo,

I do think that TDoHaNS is cute and fun and I really enjoyed it, but I also fully support using resources for grants or other things. And I don't think only doing the distribution once diminishes it or means we can't encourage cis people to buy trans people snacks

Freyja

that NFT meme is a highlight. Ruby is so long! Your therapist is right.

So, officially, they'll only be issuing 1099s for commercial transactions, not friends & family. BUT I have seen that since federal regulations require them to monitor all transactions (not just biz ones), I suspect they might increasingly audit accounts with large transactions marked personal/friends and family to check for tax fraud. Since mutual aid often involves large sums, it got me thinking. It's just a personal concern at the moment, but I wanted to add it to the convo!

lmao I wouldn't ignore you bb. I'm not seeing anything about Venmo/etc taxing folks who are transferring money rather than paying for goods and services? so if you have links please send.

but as a cat lad(y) I love the cuddly babies video too much and now have no fight left in me and just want snuggles

As a February baby I am here to defend my birth month's honor with the stubbornness of an Aquarius!

TIL Tuck doesn't get any replies sent in response to Patreon newsletters... OOPS. My two cents on the Trans Day of Staying In and Having a Nice Snack plans: given the fact that the IRS recently changed their PayPal/Venmo tax reporting rules, organizing mutual aid via these channels might get tax-weird for volunteers (if we did it the way we did last year). But I certainly want to help somehow!
