Hey friends.
Hope you're hanging in there. I was out until 4am last night covering the protests happening at the North Portland police precinct. If you'd like to see me deliriously greet a tear gas canister like an old friend, you can do so here. (Content warning, obviously.)

This mural in downtown Portland was made by @chromae.s.
This week on the show, I step out of the host's seat and speak with Callie Wright about the way that ~the media~ is covering the protests happening across the country. This interview originally aired on Callie's amazing podcast, Queersplaining, and I deeply appreciate them allowing me to share it in the Gender Reveal feed as well.

As it turns out, I made a few other media appearances (lmao) last week as well. I'm especially excited about this piece that I made with Meredith Talusan, Chase Strangio and Sam Leeds called 4 Ways to Make Your Workplace Equitable for Trans People. I know that there's a lot going on right now, but I'm hoping that folks can bring this piece to their bosses/HR professionals and help make things a little bit easier out there.
(And here's the 3-minute version of that piece for cis people with zero attention span.)
Also, I completely failed to mention this earlier, but my friends Cass and Arlie made a truly heartwarming audio piece about Cass teaching Arlie to inject T via Skype during a pandemic! I was also on the call, sleepily learning and supporting and witnessing, but that's not why you should listen. You should listen because Arlie and Cass make trans audio that is beautiful and captivating and I feel so lucky that they exist in the world. You can listen to that piece in this episode of Jacobin's podcast The Dig.

And speaking of Cass, he just launched a trans activist history podcast that I'm psyched about. You can listen to the first episode here.
Ok, and while I'm here, you should also extremely definitely listen to Arlie's piece The Toilets at Home Are All Gender Neutral, which recently aired on Short Cuts.
I JUST LOVE TRANS RADIO, YOU KNOW? IS THIS WHAT IT'S LIKE TO FEEL SEEN???
ok ok, i'll stop yelling.

Completely unrelated to anything, but these paintings of trans icons are just sitting in my neighborhood grocery store right now? What a time to be gay and alive.
In merch news, you've only got a few days left to grab whatever you want from our huge selection of limited-edition Pride Month shirts, stickers, bags, mugs, and more. Most things are less than $20 before shipping, and proceeds support trans folks, Black folks, sex workers, and people at the intersections of those three identities. It's all at bit.ly/gendermerch.

That's it for this week's newsletter. Take care, please. And hey, thank you so deeply for your support and your patience. I appreciate you so incredibly much.
