BTS - MAMA 2018 Artist of the year award speech - Reaction

Thank you again dream team for putting this together for Jim. I enjoyed it again. Outro Tear gets me every time. JHope has me shook. I had to watch the explaination of Ddaeng over and over again to get a somewhat of an understanding. My western view is so ingrained, watching Kdramas help a little bit.

HAHAHA i wish we could see what they said too, trust me! 😂 But there is no footage. Jin was actually the one who told us he got scolded by them during their you quiz on the block interview. did they scold jin back stage after the show? that doesn't sound like them tbh when jin does something like that its rare but for a good reason, i think i got glimpses of them being emotional backstage but i dont remember that, is there a link or a specific video i can go to so I can watch that?

I remember missing this live because of work only to come home and see pictures and quotes of the boys crying and i was so confused as to what went down. When i watched the speech, it was heartbreaking. Honestly those tears that they all shed were not just tears of happiness but also sadness and relief. This is the first time EVER that army was told that bts thought about disbanding hence why it was so hard hitting for everyone. Jin was not supposed to mention it at all and got told off by the members backstage. It was supposed to remain between them. Either way i'm honoured and thankful he felt secure and comfortable enough at this point to let army in just a bit more and tell us. He usually never does that. They thought about disbanding because all of the success and achievements they were making were way too much pressure on the boys. They talk about that a little bit more during their interview: "You quiz on the block." (Best interview ever tbh) Bts since have not mentioned this ever again so we won't know the full story behind it. I imagine there's more to it mentally. Namjoon always encourages the other members to speak during these award shows since he usually talks the most for the group and wants them to express their own feelings. Jungkook usually tries to avoid speaking and hides away from the microphone mostly because he's shy and doesn't like public speaking, surprise surprise, it's cute and funny. He has been doing an amazing job since 2020 and is getting more confident in doing his speeches and does them a lot now. Here he was super emotional and probably would have broken down immediately once he opened his mouth, as he's a really emotional guy, but he spoke his heart after they won during a brief interview.. i mean.. the guy who chose to interview them AFTER THIS didn't make a smart move because they were all struggling and tae was literally SOBBING in the background still.

2018 was the year that they suddenly got REALLY famous internationally and the impression I've gotten from things they've said about that year is that they were not fully prepared for the reality of that spotlight and the fame was a bit scary for them ... and that is why they really struggled with whether they wanted to continue forward.

I remember watching this live as it happened without subs and being so emotional. Then even more so later on. Can't help but love them. I believe Jungkook and RM spoke for an earlier award so the other five got to this time. Not 100% sure though been a while so I can't remember.
