I'm so far behind but I'll type anyway. So I think the issue for me with AI art is that it can't create anything new so it's legit taking other people's actual work i.e. things they have drawn (like irl tracing it) and putting it with something else also taken from someone else to create an amalgamation. That amalgamation is genuinely just theft and not the same as a person looking at someone else's idea but doing it in their hand, which will be different and adding their spin or whatever. Also, NGL ai terrifies me but mainly because we are using it for stupid shit, like why don't we use the ai power we have to try and cure cancer as opposed to copy artists and do them out of jobs? The people with power at the moment are creating the AI which means it's going to be flawed racist capitalist and uphold those systems. In my view.

Oh my gosh I am so tired of hearing stories about professors doing this to hard working students like you! I think the real question is: why don’t you trust your students enough to actually do the basic work and learn AND also be intelligent enough to create something that you presume AI only could lol 💕🤷🏻‍♀️? Ok the AI misinterpreted the first question Bob asked it right? He said “describe a FIGHT between Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change.” If the AI was so superintelligent it should have sent back a link to the Sibling Rivalry YouTube or Patreon pages lol not a lip synch for your life that sounds like you could just replace their names with almost any other two drag queens and a few of the other details like a giant unfunny generic AI created mad libs 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m not still totally paranoid about AI in the future though lolololol. 💕💕💕💕

I'm a professional screenwriter and I feel the exact same way.

also there have been so many times where people though that technology was going to grow faster than it did. people in the 80s thought wed have flying cars in the 2020s. also I love how that AI tik tok didn't even consider climate change disrupting its whole process. covid happened and to this DAY companies are struggling to get the microchips to go in cars and phones. with the rise of pandemics and natural disasters, i think AI is going to be something for the wealthy 1% elite who can withstand all that shit. also,, if the tiktok was at all predictive, the government would absoLUTELY make ai bots or whatever into supersoldiers and surely a new age of warfare would escalate global tensions to an irreconcilable point.

As a graphic designer I am really scared about the future of AI. I am currently spending a lot of money to go through college to get my degree but for what, just for AI to take over my career. Also, many ai art generators are literally just stealing art created by humans and mushing it together, nothing new or original. I just think we need be cautious about the ethics and the conversations we are having about AI
