Omg the colourism in Dominican Republic was awful. They were lovely to me but awful to people like my mum. They told my mum we couldn’t have a kayak but then 5 minutes later let a white couple have one. Mum is fully black. I didn’t experience it so much in Cuba. Can’t speak for Brazil. But Dominican I would never go back there because of the treatment.

On Chris Brown and “cancel culture”, I’d recommend you guys get into Adrienne Marie Brown (may be misspelled). Their book “WE WILL NOT CANCEL US” part of their Emergent Strategy series taught me a lot about understanding guilt, forgiveness and accountability from an individual to a collective level. It may help understand the much more nuanced reaction of Rowland at the ceremony. She handled that well, imo.
