I think the expensive runway boils down to a western vs eastern perspective on things. Coming from a SEA background, River was serving opulence. If she showed up like that, part the roads. Scarlett just looked like a business woman. She owns the business sure but she's still working class. So there lies the disconnect. I can see why Scarlett is a top look for some people but personality it's an... okay for me.

I thought it was interesting that Bob said that Drag Race is becoming more looks-focused. I agree that the costumes and makeup have gotten WAY more expensive and elaborate over the years, but I also feel like often runway is an afterthought in the judging unless it's on a design challenge. One of my pet peeves with All-Stars is that they always claim they want to play a fair game and argue about what counts more in 'track record.' I feel like voting the queen off with the worst runway and saying that was your tiebreaker would be perfectly fair criteria but they've never done it (that I can remember). Curious if others feel that runway is being more de-emphasized in judging? It's also been a while since I've done a rewatch of older seasons.

I agree with Madeline’s comment above about Scarlet’s makeup. I think because she paints a light brow on fair skin, it looks as if she does not have eyebrows, which in turn subtracts definition from her face. On top of that, her eye makeup is “small” (meaning, she paints what is there in contrast to queens who exaggerate the eye shape). Her contour is also slight. As a result, her face looks like lashes and a lip; no brow to define her face shape, and no eye. (This is not a read and does not come from a mean place. It is simply my explanation of what I think is “off” when it comes to the way Scarlet paints.)

I think Krystal could actually be in big trouble next week. Wouldn't surprise me if she is awful at Snatch Game. Scarlett struck me as being good at characters so I feel like Scarlett, Choriza, Kitty, and Ella can do characters or be funny next week. Krystal, River, and Vanity I am not so sure about. But you never know. Snatch Game sometimes is a surprise and people who are funny suck and people who are just pretty end up being hilarious.

Why is there this narrative they only tell the alternative girls to be different? They literally do this all the time to other types of queens too. They tell girls they are relying on pretty, on camp, on their bodies, afraid to be goofy, afraid to be ugly, etc. They try to get all the queens to show versatility.
