Bonus #161 - The Military TikTok Conspiracy

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/Gm5Xf3rcgRM

It's Bonus Dose Day! Before we get to that though, a reminder that I posted a "Q&A" thread a couple days ago, you'll find it right here on Patreon, feel free to go ask me some questions, or submit a private message to be featured in a future episode of "Advice Patreon Asked For".

We're back to TikTok this week, which is something of a blind spot for your ol' pal Buckley... I don't even have the app on my phone, and the only time I hear about anything going on over there is when some other social media site is talking about it. So I came across this girl recently and thought you'd all enjoy hearing about her, a young lady who is getting a lot of flack for potentially being a "PsyOp", state-sponsored propaganda, to try and "trick" dudes into joining the Army. Has the military weaponized eGirls? Let's find out!

The US Military has always used some interesting recruitment tactics, but... are they now using eGirls on TikTok!? Some seem to think so, with "LunchbagLujan" generating some controversy over the possibility that Uncle Sam is trying to get simps to sign up. Buckley looks at stats and data to see if this is a viable or effective tactic, instead of throwing a fit on Twitter like the rest of her detractors.

Comments

for additional context, variations of “views are my own/ do not reflect the views of the DoD” have been a commonplace bio for active duty influencers, way before this e-girl schizo shit

Interesting stuff, thanks. It makes sense, but as I mentioned in the video, it's really no different than everything they've always done publicly.

Military viewer here-for anyone interested, she is out of standards regulation, but only with her hair down. You can wear braids/ponytails now. Makeup is subjective since the regulation states you have to have a “natural” look (also uses the word “faddish” for haircuts so you can imagine how fun that is to argue about all the time) so probably those fake freckles are toeing the line. But yeah, she’s probably a plant. Most psyops jobs aren’t giving you all that brand new gear (clearly never been worn/not dusty/etc.) because it’s expensive and you’re not going out to the field so you’re not using it. So more risk of people losing it.

The snapping at or hitting the camera is pure torture.

A recruiter came to my high school and told both myself and my friend that if we joined we could find husbands. This was a couple years after 911 and right at beginning of the war in Iraq.

If the states want the kids to fight you have to give them something to fight FOR. Currently, this country is handing us a big platter of working two times harder for two times less while other countries get 4 weeks off....what's there to fight for? No one wants to defend this garbage

The US military, and especially recruiters, will do literally any dirty trick possible to get more warm bodies. Recently a senator said the quiet part out loud about how forgiving student loans would drive down military recruitment.

I’d serve crack before I’d serve this country

As an American i fuckin hate the military, they brainwash everyone to lick their boots and saying anything negative will get you called a commie, despite the fact that women often get raped and killed while “serving” and they dont do shit about it.

Josue guzman

couldn’t imagine how fucking annoying it would be scrolling through the already chaotic feed of TikTok only to have that guy shouting at you about propaganda and loudly snapping at you like you’re a dog. TikTok is the worst social media invention ever

I was a ROTC cadet in college. (I blew my knee out while training and never served.) None of the female cadets were allowed to wear our hair down, nor could we wear makeup when we were in uniform. Now that was in the late 70s, so for all I know you can show up at inspection in camouflage lacy lingerie now, but somehow, I doubt it It's a time of low unemployment. That's another reason their numbers are down. That, and the salaries are so low for soldiers that their families get food stamps.

I think it's funny that the article used the phrase "missed targets" when talking about the military.
