Warner Brothers and DC released The Suicide Squad last weekend to a much more receptive audience than the previous version, with many people believing the sequel/reboot/whatever is better because of the fact that the movie is Rated R. But not everyone's excited about all that extra nastiness... the British and Canadian film boards gave it a rating that allowed teenagers to go see it in theatres, leaving some questioning why it wasn't rated more in line with the US! Buckley's got a theory about that...

DC has this tendency to want to avoid making "fun" movies, they want every movie to be "what if this was happening in the real world, how would real people react? Also they probably wouldn't call each other dumb comic book names, so we shouldn't do that either", while Marvel fully embraces what makes comics fun and goofy and enjoyable to read and makes live action comics. So, clearly James Gunn said "we're going to make a DC movie that's fun and ridiculous and people are going to call a guy 'Bloodsport' and a girl 'Ratcatcher' because that's their names, we're bringing comics to life, not trying to make a statement".
