Game of Thrones Season 2 History & Lore Reaction

Comments

Yeah I remember! I love when a character leave and shows up again unexpected. Yeah I definitely understand why Theon is such a conflicted character. He reminds me of Zuko somewhat. Yes being an engaging reader is definitely a special skill! That's cool! What voice acting work have you done that I might know of? Woah so the dragons actually cause magic power to increase in the world! I guess I just considered it a correlation. I also can't wait to see how quickly Dany's dragons grow! I can't wait to hear your theory. That quote is so informative and yes I can definitely see Stannis as neurodivergent coded. I really can't wait to see where they take his character next.

I can check the season 3 lore if you want to try and watch it midway through the season! You should be totally safe to look up a map at any point. The map is so detailed you have no way of knowing which locations might be important or show up later So you do know Barristan Selmy! He was the kingsguard knight Joffrey dismissed when he first became king (which was disgraceful af, the kingsguard are supposed to serve for life). He's called "Barristan the Bold" and is widely believed to be one of the best knights in the seven kingdoms. I talked about him a little bit in a previous comment so that might be why you've seen the name more recently. I hope these long comments are enjoyable lol I just love the lore of this world very much. You're right about Theon on both counts, Ward is just a fancy name for hostage, so there was always the chance Ned would have to execute Theon someday. That said, I get why it chafed him the way people told him he should be grateful to his captors, but the Starks *did* treat him uncommonly well. George loves to draw on real world mythology btw, so you're spot on with the Nordic undertones of the drowned god (and yes the ironborn are inspired by vikings) Man, Catelyn's actress is such a compelling narrator. I'm a voice actor by trade so I'm a bit of a nerd about this stuff. Not all screen actors are great at doing voice over, but she is such a delight to listen to 😌 also yes, the pyromancer is Roy Dotrice, who did all the audiobooks. He passed away back in 2017, RIP a legend. Oh man OKAY so, dragons are very OP, but not all dragons are built the same. The rule of thumb in this universe is - the older the dragon, the more powerful it is. For as long as a dragon has food and the space to roam freely it will never stop growing, the breath gets hotter, the scales grow harder, ect ect. Aegon's dragon, Balerion, was at least 110 years old when the conquest started, and lived another hundred years after that. Balerion is famous for being one of the biggest, baddest dragons in history (that we know of). When you get to House of the Dragon you'll get to see all kinds of different dragons at various ages! Also, dragons and magic are inherently connected - the warlocks in Qarth could not do much of anything until Dany's dragons were born. It's said magic dwindled in the world when the dragons died out. When Dany's dragons hatched, the old powers of the world all became strong again! George is very hush hush about the doom of Valyria, we don't know still how it happened. I have a theory that I think is pretty gnarly but I'll save it for when you're a bit further in~ I feel like Stannis is less ruthless and more... idk, he has a very rigid sense of duty and justice, and takes things so literally that he feels neurodivergent coded to me. There's a quote from the books about the Baratheon bros that I especially love - "Robert was the true steel. Stannis is pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but brittle, the way iron gets. He'll break before he bends. And Renly, that one, he's copper, bright and shiny, pretty to look at but not worth all that much at the end of the day."
