Yeah although I really did enjoy the vibes of Steven spending an evening all alone at the beginning, him going on to work through his trauma with a subconscious version of his mom was super sad. Not being able to communicate with a parent, let alone losing one is a wound that seems nearly impossible to heal. Lapis actually did a pretty good Amethyst! I feel like Peridot's voice actor is perfect for the role she got though. I definitely see why you hate Rocknaldo lmao it's definitely a grating episode. Also, Indi will be here for the remaining episodes of the season!
2023-11-25 01:28:24 +0000 UTCAhhhh Storm in the Room! One of my top fav episodes, I get misty eyed every time I hear the "We've been together this whole time" exchange. It's so sweet seeing him not as a leader or a hero, but just a lonely kid who never got to know his mom. :c Also nice to see this ongoing trend of past events really sticking with Steven and affecting him. It's rough for anybody to reach that age where you realize your parents are just people, and have probably done some crappy things, nevermind realising that your parent was essentially a war criminal. Get that boy some therapy stat! The crystal temp episode is so funny because the voice actor for Lapis originally auditioned for Amethyst, and I *believe* Peri's VA originally auditioned for a few different gems, including Garnet. So behind the scenes it's especially silly. If I'm not mistaken, the next episode is like... the only episode in the show that I haaaate and you'll probably see why haha. (Hopefully Indi can come by next time as emotional support) but after that it's all bangers full steam ahead!!
