2024-07-02 12:51:23 +0000 UTCi can see that. that's sadly a trend among lots of new content today in any show or movie. i used to be super active in the fanfic world ages ago and something inside me internally shrivels when i hear dialogue that sounds as though it could be pulled from someone's fanfiction circa 2014. it all feels very cookie cutter. whether it's an episode of it's always sunny or a wattpad made for netflix movie there's this new way of writing dialogue that's almost like internet speak or fanfic speak that no one in real life sounds like and it's so off putting and feels like it really dates the content it belongs to. old episodes had a very early 2000s feel with the costumes but it still felt like it could be taking place as recently as a few years ago. now the way they write it it feels like it's made for one specific audience in one specific year rather than something that can be timeless. that's what makes the older episodes feel so classic i think

When they talked politics in the old episodes, they did it directly, but like people discussing topics. When they do that in the new episodes, the lines read like exerpts from tweets or facebook debates. Its not how people talk in real life, and its just filled with buzzwords and hashtag phrases that are extremely on the nose. In other words, lazy writing.

2024-07-02 05:01:31 +0000 UTCA pretty solid episode considering how late into the series it is. The Dennis moments were classic Dennis, Frank eating cat food, visiting his old hair. Poppins making a return! I wouldnโt have high expectations going forward but there are still great moments. & season 16 is actually one of the best seasons since s12-13 imo
