1 Minute Workout: Economy Picking

I'm proud to be back with another instalment of the popular " 1 Min Workout" series, where I provide you guys with fun, short workouts focussed on a specific guitar technique. This time we're focusing on ECONOMY PICKING!

Economy picking is a super cool technique that involves combining alternate picking with sweep picking, resulting in an incredibly efficient, fluid way of picking between strings.

Like always, I've structured this exercise in a "5 levels" featuring licks of increasing difficulty; starting with basic economy picking over 2 strings to get you comfortable with the motion, and going right through to some absolutely bonkers 16th note triplet runs at level 5!

Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

i used to play metal on a strat, and i just lowered the middle pickup with a screwdriver cause i never used it

i've been practicing the first 3 levels for a week and i feel like i already improved my timing, speed and muting the unwanted string. i need an advice on playing the faster parts, i'm playing this on a fender player and my pick usually touches to the single coil pick up (the one in the middle). i think it slows me down a bit, if i try not to touch them then i cant even catch the tempo

Noted, thanks Panos!

Maybe a lesson on YJM or Zakk whose work is an example of fast economy picking usage would be a good idea? Thanks anyway for your effort. :)

I'm only about 2 months into economy picking and I can really see why it is worth practicing. This is just what I need. Thanks, Bradley!
