Forget the gym!!

I can proudly announce all the roof beams are done!! This means all the hard stuff is now complete.

T&G roof boards, insulation, flooring, door fitting and the rest is all easy peasy compared to standing on a ladder/scaffold 3m in the air, balancing beams whilst wielding my trusty Mallet of Encouragement +3 - he's been an absolute hero in this build, no way I could have done it without him. Dead Blow Mallets are awesome - I've decided I'm going to do a quick video on how to make one and share plans for people to pinch!

Oh and you truly can never have too many clamps - it'd have been a nightmare trying to fit all this together without them, they made squeezing the beams into their slots super easy!!

Now, if you'll permit me a brief moment of smugness, I laser measured the full diagonals to make sure I hadn't screwed up or pulled anything out of square whilst building everything and over a 8m x 5m area, the diagonal variance was 0.01mm off...... I think I can live with that..... 😏😏

Now the weather forecast is threatening snow next week!! So it's a race against the clock to get the roof done!!

Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!! Forget the gym!!

John Dammeyer

Building regs allow for 8mm deviation from plumb, so you're a factor of 800 better than the regulations... That's pretty impressive, and definitely worthy of a little smugness! If you want a laugh seeing how well "proper builders" do, check out this guy: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ufikB4RDYUU Good luck with the weather!

Don't say that word!!! ❄️

Smug approved! That's some awesome work.

Wow...you are making great progress. Completing each stage of the build is good reason to pat yourself on the back. The end goal will be especially rewarding ... snow or not.

I think 0.06/ɛ seconds of smugness is reasonable were ɛ is error in meters

Simon

I'll use every second!

You can have several minutes of smugness
