I made a smart crafting table!!!

I made a smart crafting table!!!

Woah, I hadn't thought about that.... What if I watch a video of myself watching the table...... 🤯😜

Katie. If I build this table, and then watch this video of you and your table on my table, will the universe fold in on itself?

When I try to talk to my wife about lasers, she ends up thinking about stabbing…

PepeLePewPew

Exactly what I want to do with my channel!!! Get making cool stuff!! 🥰🥰

Hands on Katie

🤣It's definitely not a bad thing! I know I would absolutely love it😁And I think something like this would probably inspire me to try something I never would've considered 😊

ALH

You say it like that's a bad thing!!! I'm already plotting my ULTIMATE GAMING TABLE!!!! And yes, of course it'll need a projector now!

Hands on Katie

I know I'd just end up gaming on this, but I really love how versatile it can be! It might give me another reason to learn some useful new skills 🤔

ALH

Hello, I got up this morning. I'm thinking, what the heck could be so clever? Well, you're brilliant, and it never ceases to amaze me. I'm in the process of downsizing my living space, and your table idea is spectacular. Thank you!

Starting with massage and stabbing and I go away thinking about tof sensors...

Simon

....my work here is done.... 😈

I'm now thinking about lasers. You don't need very high frequency I wonder what the time averaged accuracy of the cheap sensor is and can they be calibrated

Simon

Well yes, but its more an engineer's default solution - if you have a problem to solve, a physicist starts with equations, an engineer starts with lasers.... ;)

Hands on Katie

A while ago we discussed the accuracy of cheap laser tof sensors. Was it this you were thinking of?

Simon

I'm an engineer, so I'd use lasers...... ;)

Hands on Katie

I'd just lay a ruler on the table and scale to that rather trying to do maths (and I'm a physicist so I like maths)

Simon

Absolutely - keeps my clients/victims on the edge.... ;) So both is the short answer - I've just set it to a fixed height as I can't think of a reason yet why I'd need to measure at different heights, but as the Flexispot table shows the height on the LCD screen, you can ensure precision. So basically, I just created a grid, projected it, measured the difference (ie a 5cm grid was actually, 5.45cm). I then used this ratio to scale my grid in illustrator/photoshop and I then have a perfect pixel to mm template that I can use for any other files that I want. If I wanted to adjust for other heights, I could either apply the same ratio scaling to that image as it moves or I could just create images for different heights - so easy enough. I'd probably go with the latter as it'd avoid the image becoming pixellated as it scales.

Combined massage and stabbing table, nice Proper question do you have to have the table at a single height for the grids or is the scale easy to adjust?
