I remember there’s a “program” called The Mcfly Show. Do you remember? It’s stupid and hilarious 😂 I couldn’t stop laughing. https://youtu.be/Pf45cXl2w1E?si=EOjs_WkPH4JflFWR

thank you for commenting this - I needed a laugh and it's absolutely hilarious. Watching them trying to remember "I'll Be Okay", making up different lyrics, Harry messing with them...perfect to lift my mood 🌞

Effortless is such a good word to describe their performance in this. Obviously most bands at this level who've been playing together for this long would have a high level of expertise and familiarity and many would appear "effortless" in their playing/singing because of that. What I think sets Mcfly out (particularly in this performance) is that their music feels like it's a natural or instrinsic part of them. I 100% think their relationship as a whole is a huge part of this. I don't want to speak for them, but they seem to trust each other on a soul level - they've described themselves as brothers, incredibly close in so many ways, soulmates (at least Tom talking about Danny when they first began playing/writing together)...it makes sense that when they perform they're able to just fully immerse themselves in their music (& the crowd when that applies but tbh it often feels like the crowd is a part of the music in a similar way as well). And when you add their overall musical expertise, experience playing as a band and raw talent together with that deep trust, that immersion into their music manifests in it feeling like the music is just flowing out of them with no effort at all. Why this performance feels this way even more than their higher energy performances or concerts is, in my mind, because of a few things. It's an acoustic, stripped back, more subdued set and that means overall less strain. We can hear their voices incredibly clearly. Their movements are more fluid and contained, and they aren't running/jumping/belting as much. That inherently means smoother vocals, better breath support (although the guys all seem to have a blacksmith's bellows for lungs) and control over how their breath is used which allows them to be more flexible in how they're singing without thinking almost at all about whether they have the breath to make whatever they naturally want to do happen. Of course they've probably practiced a bunch and know the breath they need to sing the songs in different ways (therefore they prob don't give much thought to their breath pro-actively regardless of type of performance), but it's more about how in their higher energy performances they're more liable to have the safety of what they've practiced fall apart and how that contrasts to this performance. Alrighty, that's enough...rambling analysis from me. Went a little more stream of consciousness than intended, but my mind just kept thinking of different things. TLDR; they are giving effortless performances here & I totally get how it might feel a bit different or more than just "they're so good at their craft they make it look effortless" conveys.

i wonder if you'd be interested in watching one of their livestream jam sessions? they're called four guys two sofas and they're both on YT. they chat and play their songs and it's both amazing and hilarious because they have not rehearsed and often can't remember the lyrics, but it's really good fun! it's acoustic too, has the vibe you're describing when you played with your brother, i think you'd enjoy it :)
