Watch all 3, not just the 1st 2, Part 3 is not the best of the 3 but it's the most quotable, which is why Sil keeps quoting it throughout the show. Jackie is the acting boss of the family while Tony and Junior are the Captains (Cappos) of their crew. First Livia waving her hanky as a non-verbal response to Tony. Tony is eating a Virginia Ham at Livia's. Livia's glare at the retirement community woman's "Time changes the mulberry leaf to silk" proverb. Song at the end is pretty dope. Tony's mother is such an easily hate-able character. I believe this episode shows that the mob's glory days are over. Tony and his crew criticize a TV figure whose words turn out to be true, while the younger generation no longer respects their elders (Brandon for Tony and Junior with the highjacking as well as Tony choosing to take a suit-"46 Long"-from the highjacking). The mafia's concerns have become trivial, focusing on quick cash grabs instead of grand heists, and Tony is stressed over matters like a middle school teacher's car, DVDs, and retirement communities. His commitment to old-school values causes him to contradict himself repeatedly. He struggles with the pain of his mother's lack of love, which has fueled a deep resentment toward Livia that he refuses to acknowledge. Even though Dr. Melfi points these issues out in therapy, Tony still sees himself as a caring and suffering son. Rather than confronting these problems directly, he vents his frustration on Georgie by hitting him with a phone, which also highlights how awkwardly the characters handle everyday situations.
