Early Access: The Legend of Vox Machina 1x12 - Group Reaction+Uncut

Comments

Suraj the reason you don't remember this from the tabletop is simply because either it happened before the stream or you haven't got to it yet. The reactions are a long way ahead of the comments, so still not sure if the group are aware of the origins of the animated show (hasn't been mentioned in a reaction that I can remember). This is meta/BTS stuff, so shouldn't be a spoiler. This started as a kickstarter to animate parts of the story that happened before they started streaming at all. That's the first two episodes. The kickstarter was wildly successful, so they kept adding episodes as stretch goals until they eventually ended up with the entire Briarwood arc (1x24 to 1x38, about 90hours of table gameplay). That then turned into a full show with Amazon supporting ongoing seasons. Starting where they did gave them a stronger narrative arc with a shorter run time, they aren't wandering around doing smaller quests for a first few episodes. It also let them elegantly cut out Tiberius, who was a party member and problem player who left Critical Role around at the start of this arc.

You've met the Iron Storm, now get ready to meet the Hope Devourer, the Frigid Doom, the Diseased Deceiver, and the Cinder King

#SundayRundown So excited for the Normies Pathfinder. Chris's bard intro is dope. Excellent pick on the Monk, Navi. If anyone is still deciding in a class, I'm going to throw "Oracle" out there. They are divine spellcasters that pull their magic from universal concepts (life, death, winter, volcanos, nature, etc) rather than through worship of a particular divine being.

#SundayRundown Vox Machina. This season really felt like the character journey for Percy, sure we get moments for everyone and some real growth shines for people like pike and keyleth, but Percy steals the show with his sad boy era. The moment where he turns the gun on himself, orthax having to fight to keep him from pulling the trigger, instead of shooting vex is a powerful moment that really shows how much he cares for her. The entire struggle was so well done, and capping it off with scanlan throwing the gun in the acid is just perfect. But of course things can’t stay happy so now we have to deal with these dragon cunts. Surely things will go well and surely they won’t turn into a total shitstorm.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN VOX MACHINA yeah the pat brain is infecting everyone let’s go! Even suraj was the first one to suggest orgy, and I’m here for it. Just one big ol horizontal monster mash. Honestly so many of these tension situations in shows can be solved with a good old good luck orgy, through Percy’s sister in there too we already have one set of siblings what’s one more.

Thanks!

The Normies

Did I miss something or was there no extended discussion for this one?

SpeedyCat19

I love you all you know, you’ve pointed out something that was so bloody obvious, I didn’t even think to click, merely going for the links thinking it had to be more complex than that, so now I’m going to stand in the corner and pray for forgiveness for my stupidity 💜

Smash you weren’t wrong. Angela, the edited reaction, where the video itself isn’t blurred, is the giant thumbnail. You can click that and watch. They embedded it instead of listing it as a separate link.

I did indeed add the pepperbox moment after watching. I’ll add the season 1 recap vid as well, but I think they already started season 2

#Sundayrundown: loved rewatching this season! The cast did say they had to find their footing for this one, but I think it introduces the characters and world well enouph. Can't wait for next episode!

Bert In A Bin

My bad, I apologize for my mistake. If you're looking for the reaction they post on YouTube, the link is the thumbnail. My bad i totally misunderstood you.

Smash Bran'Discootch

The previous reactions shows them unblurred, I’ve been watching the normies for a long time now, I always watched the reactions rather than the uncut, but now they seemed to have put the 2 together. So I can no longer click a reaction and watch that version

#SundayRundown To clear up Suraj’s question about the order of events: The feast where the Briarwoods first appeared happened in Campaign 1, Episode 24 (its actually titled “The Feast”). This technically kicked off the Briarwood arc but there were a few episodes of other stuff, including the departure of Tiberius (problematic player Orion, no more needs to be said. The Briarwood arc, ending with the Ziggauraut battle and Orthax battle wrapped up Episode 35. There were couple of less eventful episodes, and then Episode 38, appropriately titled “Omens,” ended the same way as the animated series: King Uriel’s speech being interrupted by the dragons. Suraj may have felt things happened in different order because at the table, the group did more jobs in Emon and established themselves both in the earlier episodes and pre-stream. Their rep was already established, but the show had to speed-run that in the first two episodes. For the editor doing the Table-To-Screen playlist…Scanlan tossing the Pepperbox into the acid is even BETTER at the table. It was so raw and hilarious. Please dont forget to watch the free, short season 2 preview with Scanlan/Sam Riegel slingin’ absolute bars for about 5 minutes recapping season 1. It is absolute flames. As we saw at the end of season 1, a buncha dragons showed up. When you watch what they do in season 2, bear in mind it’s all because some fan gifted Matt a bunch of dragon miniatures to use. He…put them to good use.

Because showing them unblurred is illegal. The reaction channels that DO show the full episode are doing the equivalent of selling bootleg DVDs on the street corner. The normies have more integrity than that.

Smash Bran'Discootch

The “uncut”, full length reactions have always been blurred. Reaction channels cannot play the actual, full video because that content is copyrighted by the creators and big companies that put the shows out. Any channel that shows uncut videos is breaking the law, the risking their channel being shut down. The Normies have repeatedly said they arent doing that Edited reactions with roughly 10 min of footage are what gets put on Youtube, and Premium members get early access to them. They are in the episode post as always, just clock the embedded video.

OptionZero

Why have the videos now started to be blurred? Really ruining my enjoyment of the reactions

#SundayRundown- Lmao okay so at one time Keyleth DID have a crush on both of the twins, but the interaction between Vex and Keyleth there at the end was very much just about respect. So let's talk a little bit about the whole concept of Percy's character. Taleisin Jaffe wanted to know what terrible horrible event would inspire the first person to invent the firearm to actually bring it from concept to reality. And then once that person created it, how they would cope once they realized what they unleashed upon the world. Percy's story is all about price and consequences. Matt even set it up to where depending on how Percy interacted with Cassandra and some of the choices he made, she could have gone down a VERY dark road. As for the 6th Barrel, you sort of see it in the show but it is confirmed in the campaign 1 wrap-up(which has been scrubbed from the internet) that there was always going to be another name. If Percy had completed his list, more names would have shown up and he would have kept killing and feeding souls to Orthax forever. Also just to confirm, the Briarwood arc does happen in the campaign that they streamed. Only the first two episodes were things that weren't in the campaign. I think Suraj is getting a little bit mixed up due to the structure of the campaign vs the structure of the animated series. None of the whole "rescue lady kima from the underdark" stuff happens in the animated series.
