Cavemen btw

Whedon says in the DVD commentary that he needed someone Angel and Spike would believe without question in the Deeper Well when they are told there is no way to save Fred. His initial thought was Giles, but they would have had to pay to fly him to California and it turned out he wasn't available. So he made a character that Angel already knew and that couldn't lie.

The cavemen vs astronauts argument was started by Doug Petrie from Buffy. He visited the Angel set, wrote the question on a white board in the writers' room and the writers and cast argued about it for three days. Then Whedon heard about it and used it in the script.

In the DVD commentary, Whedon says he deliberately killed off Fred because he wanted to give Amy Acker a different character to play. He and some of the cast used to get together to do Shakespeare readings for fun, and he knew she had more acting chops than she was able to show playing Fred.

As much as I love Fred, this episode is awesome. It’s part 1 of a 2 parter. And even though Fred is dead, Amy isn’t leaving the show and Illyria gives her something totally new and interesting to play.

I love that touch that Eve sings Lindsay’s original song that he sung at Caretas in season 2.

Oh boy.....

That moment with Fred n Wesley on the stairs n Fred sings a few notes, Lorne turning round in horror because he instantly reads her n sees her future - chilling

Pat may have to re-ask the question to chat GPT.. The initial hypothetical was based on cavemen and astronauts. Plural. Cavemen don't work together very well or at least not as cohesive as a group of astronauts would. My chat GPT had astronauts winning 6 out of 10 times 🤣

Angel Sunday Rundown "I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that!" Amy Acker is phenomenal in this episode. And the crazy thing is, you see a whole other side of her acting chops after this episode. Wesley finally gets to be with someone he loves and he loses her immediately. Joss gave us Fresley for one episode 💔 Also, kudos to Lorne in that scene with Eve displaying his love for Fred. Gotta love him 💚

#SundayRundown #Angel Fun fact 1: According to an interview with Joss Whedon, after they wrapped shooting the scene with Fred dying in Wesley's arms, Joss, Amy Acker, and Alexis Denisof went out to get drinks together and apparently they were just all pretty silent and emotionally exhausted from filming those scenes. So later, Joss said, that this was the inspiration for the Avengers postcredits scene where they are all having shawarma and they're all just sitting there in silence, taking it all in. Fun fact 2: The song that Eve sings for Lorne in this episode is "LA Song" which was written and performed by [the homie] Christian Kane. Lindsay sang that song back in his last episode of season 2 "Dead End", in Lorne's karaoke bar.
