I swear, Game of Thrones gave a lot of people actual brain damage. :D

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN VOX MACHINA. A good gm will be able to make sure all his players get a chance to shine, allowing for moments for them to take center stage and show their stuff. Early on your martial classes like fighters rogues and barbarians tend to stand out with their more focused kits while it shifts more towards your magic classes like clerics sorcerers and druids towards the later levels as they get access to more spells that can be useful for various situations. That being said they all can still shine at any level it just depends on how you use them, as scanlan will tell you it’s not the size of your ship but the motion of your ocean that matters.

#Sundayrundown VOX machina. Pat really infecting the others, when spidey was talking about Percy shotting Cass in the head Chris’s mind jumped straight to Percy blowing his sisters back out lmao, pat really is the king of fantasy shows. Gotta put some respec on his name, he lets that freak flag fly he is the people’s champion.

These days, unfortunately, plot armor is very much a thing in dnd 😢

Lol, I'm playing BG3 as a Sorcerer and bullying Gale is just too much fun. Multi-classing is the real best option though. Storm Sorcerer + Tempest Cleric is an S+ path. Oh man, now I really want to see the normies do a live action DnD stream.

Gwyn

now now, ease up on the wizard hate, a wizard is far more versatile then a sorcerer

#SundayRundown Rana, for sorceress vs wizard, would you rather be an awesome being with magical powers running through their blood, who intrinsically uses magic like breathing and can manipulate the basic foundations of spells, or would you rather be a regular human/elf nerd who read a lot of books and had to learn magic the hard way, and has to prepare their spells every morning? Thats the Sorcerer v Wizard debate.

Clerics carry a mace for a reason!!!

#SundayRunDown (VoxMachina) Character death is very much a huge possibility. That’s kinda what makes this show nail biting once you learn that. All this stuff is them “planning” and playing well… But y’know… it can turn 180 like that!!! Like Archie in the battle at the tree… In most games, when a character dies or even fails at something, that’s not you losing! It’s a moment to roleplay more. Why was your character off at that time? Was there something specific on their mind that put them off their game or were they truly outmatched! Keyleth jumped in front of Vex, just a reflex of a ruler who loves people. After this, most dungeon masters let the party come to terms with losing someone and will work with the dead character’s player to find a way to bring their new character in! Maybe the party feels they should hire someone? Maybe the next character is tied to the party’s next quest somehow?! There is a last option though that is possible. Sometimes a party can “TPK” (Total Party Kill). Maybe they didn’t plan well, maybe they all rolled horrible and the DM wants to be honest with the table’s rolls… but that’s when most games end. When all the players die at once and the story cannot go on maybe that’s just how it ends… time for a new campaign with all new characters maybe in a new world or the same one.

#SundayRunDown If you go to the IMDB for Travis Willingham (Grog) and scroll aaaaaall the way down, you’ll find one his first voice actor gigs was dubbing on a little show called Dragon Ball Z Fast forward to now, and Travis and Sam Riegel are the executive producers on TLOVM. OF COURSE THEY DID A BEAM STRUGGLE! And yes, this show is literally produced by Grog and Scanlan, which explains alot! Marisha Ray is a massive Korra fan so the avatar influence on Keyleth is very intentional, and the connections wont stop there.

OptionZero

In the actual campaign Grog's player forgot about the ability making him immune to charm until this fight.

Something you can't take away from the Briarwoods is that they really pushed the question : how far will you go for the one you love ? About plot armor: not a thing in dnd. It was always really important to Matt to have strong consequences, so death is never off the table. Sure, they live in a world that has multiple ways to prevent that, but no one is immortal, especially when they face things like what vox machina faces. Like Suraj said, they all have other characters as back-ups, but at this point in the CR journey, for a lot of players, VM were their first characters ever that they inhabited for years now - all the reactions the characters had in the episode was very much the reactions the players had at the table. A tidbit of dnd rules : for Grog, and why he wasn't charmed by Sylas, it's not really because he just closed his eyes but Grog wouldn't know that haha. The real reason is that Grog can't get charmed when he is 'raging', at all. So when he was charmed a few episodes before by the silver tongue, it was because he wasn't raging at this time, he was talking to Vax and it took him by surprise. Lastly, if you think there's an anime reference, there probably is ; they are huge nerds, especially Travis for DBZ. Same for ATLA with Keyleth, there's a lot of homages. Your reactions are the best, thank you so much ! (and rana crying over vex and vax fighting, I was right there with you girl)

#SundayRundown #VoxMachina it might have been said before but Keyleth is arguably the strongest member of Vox Machina if you did not know high level druids in DnD are absolutely devastating not only can they shape change into end game level creatures, but after that form dies they still have multiple spells that can literally harness the power of natural disasters, such as tsunami's and earthquakes, if that wasn't enough they also have access to broken features like timeless body, which makes your character age exponentially slower, living for multiple centuries regardless of the characters race, to top it all off Critical Role once had a free for all between all the Vox Machina cast and in the end it came down to Keyleth and Grog, Grog won but it was very close, and easily could have been Keyleth if the dice rolled just a bit differently. I highly recommend playing one, whenever you guys get around to making that DnD campaign!

Don't worry too much about the subtitles spoiling the name "Orthax". It's not like a dnd lore thing so you guys didn't really get spoiled on anything. Yes, the Keyleth Sun Tree Moment is 100% and homage to Dragon Ball Z. Travis is a huge DBZ fan, Laura voiced Kid Trunks; a lot of the cast and crew have a relationship to that series and that crew. Clerics, like pike, often get put into a box as being "just the healer", but they are so much more than that. Pike specifically is a War Domain cleric. So she can rock heavy armor and martial weapons while still being able to cast healing spells as well as offensive spells. Speaking of Pike, Ashley's Skype had a habit of disconnecting at the worst possible moments which really made for some incredibly tense moments during the campaign.
