Great reaction guys, I've been looking forward to this one! I will say, the dub on Hulu has the shortened version of the season 2 OP because that's how it aired on US tv for the dub. If you want the dub with Shinzo wo Sasageyo in all of its glory, I recommend watching it on Funimation, or at least season 2. Although, the Funimation apps and website can be really buggy sometimes.

I mean I’m not here to start a war, I personally think it’s one of the worse dubs and the script is really bad and the voice actors don’t fit at all, I am not coming from a sub elitist point of view while I do prefer subs I have plenty dubs I enjoy as well and one or two I prefer over the sub, but I just despise this one, it does this masterpiece wrong IMO, but I understand why they are doing it like this, I just can’t watch along, but I’m stoked for everyone to enjoy this

This show turned out to be so much more and better than it seemed before I actually gave it a try. From the outside, looking at the fandom and promotional materials, I got a wrong impression that it was all about cruelty and gratuitous violence, probably just because that's the kind of sensational stuff that made it to me. I went into it, curious about it's popularity, but also expecting to have to turn my brain off. I didn't realize it'd be what it is...don't want to say more and spoil, but it's such a smart series with actual things to say, but it's not overt because it's commentary is so baked into it's great characters and tough decisions and well-thought-through but slowly revealed mythology. It's a special anime series. It's up there with original Neon Genesis Evangelion & Cowboy Bebop for me as a Required Reading/Canon for the genre.

You can hate the ending, doesn't mean the series as a whole wasn't fantastic. Unlike GoT which slowly fizzled out before crashing spectacularly.

I've watched both and really do think there is value in watching both dub and sub if you have the time and inclination. I think there are lines of dialogue that are better translated in dub than sub, and lines that are the reverse and better in sub, and the same with performances. Mostly, a lot of it ends up feeling slightly tonally different rather than better or worse, and I think it's actually interesting the very similar but distinct interpretations they present of some of the characters. Excited for this! But man do I wish this had been a double drop, seeing reactions to what comes next is going to be something.
