From what I understand, this movie was actually its own concept, and then, because everything has to be derivative, they slapped the Death Note name on it for marketing. It was never meant to be DN, and that's why it has so many pointless changes. Which is too bad, because I could have seen this becoming a C grade horror cult classic kinda flick. Also, ya'll should consider watching the musical, it's pretty great and that would be a ton of fun

Ryuk failed flex as well, he said no one was able to get past writing two letters of his name meanwhile there is an entry in the death note saying "don't trust ryuk" lol wtf was this movie

Because it was swift like his hamd of justice and 2. It was a distinct calling card. He wanted people to know he was killing criminals.

Ryuk is no longer a spectator. He is actively a trouble maker, trying to make Light write names. This is a horror movie. Not a moral - cat mouse game. Kira is not actually a japanese word. It is the Japanese version of the english word Killer. (Kind of like saying Sake is an english word cause its the japanese word for alchoal. ) L was well cast and played the part really well. but dont like how he became too emotional & dumb. L is emotional, but doesnt give into it. WATARI IS NOT HIS NAME. Quillsh Wammy deserves respect. The disregard of the source material and why people like the manga and anime really pisses me off. I understand the director can have thier own vision.

2021-08-21 16:41:11 +0000 UTCHonestly. I don’t think this movie is too bad. Yes it doesn’t follow the story exactly but that was the point. It’s a reimagining. The director said there is something special about Death Note and that story is there in many forms: the manga, anime, and Japanese live-action movies (which came out before this). He didn’t want to do the same thing again because it was already done and to great affect. If you look at this as just a movie using the world of Death Note and characters you’ll enjoy it. For the record, I know people that watched this movie without knowing it’s an adaptation of an anime and loved it.
