I wonder if Sakura was just cut from Naruto altogether if Kishimoto would be raked over the coals for his female characters as much. Cuz as a writer myself, I know that a lot of male writers like to think they know how to write female characters but they often just don’t know what they’re writing about. It’s about how good you can trick readers into investing themselves into your work. It’s fiction (or complete bs) and you’re trying to create interest in that bs. If I’m honest if Sakura wasn’t a complete mess of fiction I’d be fine with the storylines of the other women in Naruto. They possess more of a foundation than Sakura, but it’s really rough reading that readers couldn’t trick themselves into liking at times with Sakura

I hate that he never gave Sakura cool genjutsu powers. As a medical ninja, she should've been able to "sedate" people using that. Kakashi alluded to it in the early episodes but they never did anything with it.

In this episode Naruto came down from an unrealistically written infinitely positive protagonist to a real person who was overwhelmed with conflicting emotions and just the weight of responsibility. I resonated and felt for him so much because this little representation of a person having a panic attack was super real (and hit too close to home). Hard not to fall for him post Pain-arc, this arc did some magic in terms of his growth ♥️

I mean.... sometimes a character IS shitty, whether it's the writer's fault or not. Because good writing doesn't mean that every character will be perfect. Sometimes you're writing a shitty character. I think in this case most people hating on Sakura recognize that it's the writing they're hating on. It just means I don't like this character Kishimoto has created or written for despite liking most of the other characters he created and wrote.

I really appreciate their reaction to Naruto's panic attack. It was a completely realistic and understandable reaction to him after everything that happened in the last couple episodes. But the Naruto hate and backlash that happened when this first came out was so tiring. People seriously calling him "weak" and other such nonsense because he wasn't acting "badass". Sorry, Naruto is a more complex character than "Rawr, I beat bad guy, now me strong and tough at all times Rawr." He has reached a point where his idealism has run into realism and has to come to terms with it and that is ALOT to deal with mentally. Kishimoto has made many writing mistakes, this was not one of them. So, thank you Normies. I'm looking forward to next week.

Oh trust and believe Suraj. I give Naruto's toxic ass just as much shit as I do Sakura. He doesn't get a pass. Sasuke's decisions up to this point make quite a bit more sense to me than the other two. But ultimately it all comes down to Kishimoto being an incompetent mangaka half the time. I wanna give you all props for how you reacted to Naruto hyperventilating. Man, I've been with this series since it came to the US in 2002. I've followed the raw chapters, the spoilers even, we literally were up at 1AM waiting for a few spoilers. The amount of people who crapped on Naruto because of how he reacted towards the Sasuke news has been insane. I recall Naruto Forums just clowning him for years. Thank you for reacting accordingly because honestly, that's how people react. It's realistic and it makes sense given everything he had been through and everything he's learned. Just, thank you for doing it justice. Anxiety, emotions, these things exist so I can see easily how Naruto would react like this so the fact you all saw it as well and said what you felt, I rock with it.

Konan was literally a part of a terrorist organization and killed people, but I guess that doesn't make her a bad person...Also, Tsunade's whole characterization is most of the time forgotten once a guy lays eyes on her breasts. She's literally seen as big boobs or Jiraiya's almost girlfriend in most forums. Hinata is literally one dimensional after the original series. The only screen time she gets is to obsess over Naruto so by definition she isn't a good or bad person.

Easily my favorite fight scene in the series. I hate Danzo, but they put too much sauce into those Wind Shuriken. Sasuke's Hawk (Which, Spoiler, never gets explained), making the save, and the soundtrack are all on fucking point.

I have to agree with Trey, Sakura is a shitty person regardless of anything faults the writer may have. Since day one she been a a terrible person, back in part 1 she was being a dick to Naruto for being an orphan! and that why sasuke hated her. I rewatched this show with my gf and she hates Sakura too, the problem with kishimoto is that the female characters dont have any agency or goals of theyre own they usually are just following some other male characters dreams hence konan who has no real dreams are goals of her own, but that doesnt make konan a terrible person, or tsunada, or hinata, or any other female character what makes sakura so bad is that shes just actually a bad person and lying to Naruto is very in character for the type of person Sakura has been presented as. Also on side not I feel away about Naruto getting shit for it's femlae charcters but not dragon ball z where there basically just set dressing but i digress.

What pisses me off the most is that people (fans and characters) put so much on Naruto for the sake of being a badass and protagonist when he's essentially still a kid. I wish people would have the same leniency with Sakura because their entire worlds have been shaken. They are basically having to make moves with in a situation very personally to them in a world that is ready to move with or without them. It doesn't matter if Naruto wants to save Sasuke or not anymore, the world is ready to dispose of him because of all his actions. Whenever something huge has happened, Naruto had to be in the epicenter of it. Too distracted to think about the situation. Now that the danger is much more mental he has to sit there and think and it's too much for him. It's to o much for everyone honestly. It's why I'm not that pissy about what Sakura did like everyone else. Sai literally just explained that he pushed her to do it and it didn't come from a place of malicious intent. She was ready for Naruto to hate her if it meant she could have even a slim chance of taking the burden she felt she and everyone else put on him. We have to realize these are humans with emotion and the things they do might not be right, but the intent matters the most.

As someone who has dealt with clinical depression and anxiety for the majority of their life, it actually really moved me to see Kishimoto let Naruto be human and have an understandable reaction to everything he found out about Sasuke, his classmates, what they were planning to do, and what he was realizing he might have to do. A lot of people hated that scene back in the day because they thought it made Naruto look "weak." I think getting the reminder that he's still human just shows how actually strong he is.
