This is why people shouldn't influence you on your anime choices. When I was first given the suggestion to watch Naruto, I was told by many people to skip the fillers. I decided not to and am glad I didn't. Yes this stuff is "filler" but the filler, especially in Shippuden, add elements of stuff that are canon. It isn't "fan fiction". I personally liked the filler after the Pain Arc because it's a very well told story. The silliness of the comments today is one of the reasons why I rarely connect with the anime community and why Patreon was a source of unexpected comedy on Wednesday.

We are gonna get to the cannon stuff quick enough, and we will eventually finish this show with The Normies. We are basically getting another week of Naruto content with them reacting to this. This actually never bothered me. In the time period Kishimoto's using for inspiration, things like "foster parents" don't exist. There are a ton of orphaned kids or teens in the village who don't have foster families (Kakashi, Iruka, Naruto, Sasuke): it's a consistent worldbuilding choice he makes, not just something he's doing for Naruto. In this society, if you don't have a clan, the village leaves you on your own. It fits with the whole "this is a world where people are treated as tools" thing he's got going on.

There may be some rude comments so I hope this does not come off as one, but a suggestion from me would be to try putting polls on Patreon, preferably at the start of the month so people know what they are paying for, and thus can't really complain about what they're receiving. I know your goal may be to grow your Discord, but considering that 100% of the Patrons are on Patreon, and not 100% of Patrons are on Discord, it seems counterintuitive to only consider polls from one Platform that doesn't contain all the Patrons instead of a poll from the platform which contains all your Patrons. From my understanding, it seems like you may want to incentivize people to join the Discord by making the decisions based on what happens there, but I think all it really does is leave unsatisfied customers. Just my 2 cents, hope it didn't come off rude.

I'll just put my $.02 since everyone else is... I personally don't mind filler. There are actually some filler episodes/arcs that are totally worth seeing or reacting to. I haven't seen these fillers so I don't know which category they fall into. But I will say that this was a big disappointment. If you're going to watch certain filler and use those episodes as a week's worth of reactions ONLY, then you should confer with the thousands of fans who are paying for your services first with a poll or something. Instead they listened to a handful of people on discord, which is fine but then upload them separate from the canon episodes. Additionally, some people in other countries stay up for hours just to watch these episodes. I can only imagine their disappointment after seeing fillers uploaded, hell I would be pissed. I understand that there is a schedule, but not everyone checks the schedule. And if there is a major change to one of your most beloved series (like purely reacting to fillers on a specific week), then there should be an additional announcement to make sure that people who don't see the schedule know what to expect. I typically am one not to complain about fillers, but again.. you should at the very least confer with your patrons who pay for your services to help keep your channel afloat first. No disrespect at all, love the Normies. I'm just leaving my personal opinion out there. I'll see everyone next week, peace.

These episodes showcase a great juxtaposition between where Naruto started and where he is after saving the village, and helps round out the story more for the viewers. I don’t think they should watch this whole filler arc, but there are definitely at least two more episodes in it that I think they would all really enjoy, and I would be happy to see them on here. Let them watch the series however they want, as long as it’s in order.
