What they’re missing about Avon and stringer convo is you can’t show any weakness in the drug trade. Stringer way makes them look weak and puts them at risk from rival crews.

I love how Bubbles always calls him McNutty. Andre Royo is so good. There's a story about how one day while he was still in makeup, an actual addict came up to him and gave him a vial of heroin, mistaking him for another actual addict. And the most fucked up thing is that he actually considered doing the heroin so he could know what it's like. Thankfully he was talked out of it.

will join back for sure, they watch mutiple episodes at once so if someone misses on one watchthrough they will probably be gone for a few of reactions

kivu_king

never be ashamed, you have an excellent taste sir. the wire really is elite.

kivu_king

Sad face outside, crying on the inside😯😲😱😧😨😰😱 😢 <-with this range of emotions -Spidey-

The Normies Staff

Also Spidey looked super sad through this whole reaction. :( It's so painful watching Kima fight for her life and the fallout it has on everyone who cares about her.

Love me some Tuesday Wire reactions! Embarrassing how many times I've seen this show and how much I still look forward to watching it with ya. re: the conversation today - Yeah, Ed Burns was in the BPD for 20 years, and was a detective in both Narcotics and Homicide. After he retired from there he became a public school teacher. David Simon was a reporter for the Baltimore Sun, which is when he met Ed Burns. In1988 he took a year off and spent the whole year embedded in the BPD Homicide Department with the detectives, during the height of Baltimore's homicide problems, writing a book about it. So yeah, no wonder it feels so authentic - it's what they both knew intimately. It was produced entirely in Baltimore - most of the extras aren't actors, they're just real people on the street, and you can go to just about every location you see in the show. Here's where Kima was shot, for example: (https : // goo . gl / maps / dT4ujHGXL4Bp3Z5j9) And yeah, they based just about everyone on real people - there was a real BPD Homicide Sergeant named Jay Landsman, for example. In fact, some of the real people they base characters on themselves show up as actors playing other parts - no spoilers on this till they appear though. :) Simon and Burns had a couple other related projects at HBO before The Wire. Simon wrote a book about his year embedded with BPD Homicide, and that was turned into a show that ran for a few seasons in the mid-90s called 'Homicide: Life on the Street.' It's good, but not nearly as authentic as The Wire. Then Simon and Burns authored a book together called 'The Corner' which told the true story about a single drug corner in a neighborhood in Baltimore over the course of a year. They worked together to make that into a 6-part HBO miniseries, which won a few Emmys and led to The Wire. Anyway, sorry, essay over. Love this damn show.

Nerd Going Outside

Great job, as always. I hope we get to see Mickey and Rana and Chris back soon. I legit look forward to Tuesdays because of this.

jveezy

Where is Rana? :(

Mintteacup

It isn't because you're from Baltimore Mike. Wire is by a long shot, the best written show that has ever been put on television. I'm from Miami, Florida.

Kamina 1

Season 2 is the most underrated of the show! It just feels like such a sudden shift, but is actually really fantastic and even better on re-watches.

Jereco

Simon is a creator on THREE full series. The Wire and Treme and The Deuce.

Jereco

i don't even think OZ could go on youtube lol. that would be good though, OZ is top 10.

Kiana B.

This is literally the highlight of my Tuesdays, syncing up the wire to watch full reactions with the normies...I cant wait untill you guys and gals watch season 3 and 4 (skip season 2) just kidding lol

Queef Burglar

Can't wait until we get deeper into this show. My favorite reactions so far. I feel bad chris won't be there tho.

Ruben Lopez

id like to bing watch too, but im not patient enough :D

Mink Fickle

The wire is easily one of my favourite shows. My third rewatch of this master piece now and im lovin it that the guys are loving it. They should also watch OZ, another top show by HBO.

Mink Fickle

Wow I wasn't expecting the shout out, thanks Pat! I love your guys reactions! I may be biased because I'm Baltimore born and raised but The Wire is the best show ever and there are SO many scenes that I can't wait to see you guys react to. Also, please double drop next week!

Michael Smith

we defending cops? in this economy??!

Kiana B.

legit waiting to binge watch season 1 till 4 reaction gonna be priceless

The Answer

before when they thought about taking the money there was a wiretap so everyone would know the exact amount that was supposed to be there and what was missing. this time no one knew exactly what they were walking into. the money was not accounted for, therefore they're more likely to get away with it andiwouldhavedonethesamething!

Kiana B.

Also, Suraj, David Simon has made many other shows...4 miniseries and 2 continuing series (all with HBO). The Iraq War miniseries Generation Kill is his most famous, but The Deuce is also amazing.

outdoorcats

So freaking glad you guys added Chris voice to the final edit 😂 "Sooooo GOOOOD"

Kamina 1

the guy (norris) during the scene in the conference room who asked lester where he was from was a real life baltimore police commissioner and maryland superintendent at one point. he was in some mess so he resigned, but yeah.

Kiana B.

Yes shot in Baltimore - not just some of it, pretty much all of it - but this almost wasn't the case. In between Season 1 and 2, the mayor threatened to shut down filming permits in the city if the show didn't promise to do a more flattering portrait of city politicians from then onward. Simon called him on his bluff and said they'd shoot it in nearby cities, but the show would still be set in Baltimore and they'd lose all the jobs that came with them filming there. The mayor backed down...that mayor's name was Martin O'Malley, and he later became governor of Maryland and a 2016 presidential candidate (and he's the main inspiration for...well, more on that later).

Chris shouting in the background during the scene with McNulty/Rawls was hilarious 😂

Elle B.

suraj looking a like a snack. this always happens when the beard and haircut make an appearance. i'm sorry this is inappropriate.

Kiana B.

yes this show is baltimore heavy, that's why the people actually from there love and respect it because they did baltimore right. a lot of the actors are actually from there as well. you can tell the creators have a deep love and respect for the city and its people.

Kiana B.

When I first saw him make that face I had to pause the show I was laughing so hard!

Mo

I watched for the first time months ago seeing the meme face from wee bay had me in tears 😂😂
