Sometimes I think you guys have an oversimplified view of the show when it's actually rather complex in its politics. Viren is in prison for sending the letters to call a council of the Pentarchy, something only the monarch or chosen regent is allowed to do, which is treasonous. They don't know the shadow elf assassins were sent by him and even if they happened to view the clearly magical beings, it wouldn't necessarily be identified as "dark" magic. I feel like the war has been going on for so long they probably don't remember all the magic and abilities the different elves have. It probably seemed like shadow projections of the moonshadow elves. As for Ezran, he's not just a boy king, but a boy king when an clear act of war seems to have taken place. Two monarchs are dead, one is seriously injured, and it seems war is coming to them from Xadia whether they like it or not. His talk of peace is very idealistic in those terms, and his refusal to fight could seem neglectful to the people especially if it seems an attack is imminent. Real kings in history have lost their heads when they lost the support of their people during wartime. That's why, as soon as he abdicates the throne, he's arrested, because some see his actions as treasonous.

When she started to defame herself, he wanted to remind her of how amazing she is. He didn't compliment her in order to take advantage of her so he can "steal a kiss", he just wanted to remind her that she's strong, was and still is! I will point out that Callum points everything out perfectly because they're opposites; Rayla's action-focused, and Callum's emotion/connection-focused. So he sees how amazing she is because he never dreamed of doing what she's done or being like someone like her!

2020-08-27 17:23:01 +0000 UTCSeeing this posted so early caught me off guard. lol But yeah, there's nothing confusing about Ezran's decision. Do nothing and the 3 armies wage war against his kingdom. Or, give up the crown and let them march towards Xadia. He was faced with a dilemma and as a king, he chose what he felt was best for his people. No one knows that Viren sent those assassins to murder the other rulers. As a pacifist, Ezran literally had no other cards to play. Regardless, this was probably the weakest episode of the season and it only gets better from here.
