Probably should've read the comments before signing up for this. Add a few frames of video here and there to make sync easier, or at least let people know where you're watching. Because clearly your version (perhaps on demand from HBO.com? dunno..) is different than my Blu-Rays. I get intro, then interviews, then the episode. You clearly get some sort of flashback to the previous one first, so the timer is utterly useless for syncing, which means the different playback speed (probably 24 vs 30 FPS) is a showstopper.

Two things - 1. Germans had superior technology at the begining of the war. Particularly with aircraft. Japanese too. By wars end, the Americans had the best shit across most weapons platforms (tanks notwithstanding). 2. WWII was mostly volunteer.

Hitler came to power in 1932, this was 1944. That's 12 years apart. We didn't enter the war till 41. Tons of Americans were German immigrants or decedents of German immigrants. We had a massive German population. Hitler revitalized Germany which was 'weak' and humiliated after WWI and caused a lot of Germans all over the world to go back home as they felt like Germany was returning to prominence after decades of decline. It's VERY easy people now to say they'd never be a Nazi or serve Nazi Germany and that is a very naive view. There are a ton of people and nations right now in the west who have the same types of rhetoric and policies as the Nazis. Authoritarianism and mob rule and feeling everyone who disagreees with you politically is 'the enemy' is something that's going on all over America and Europe, and tons of people acting like Nazis say they hate Nazis. You are naive if you think you'd never serve Nazi Germany. People think the Holocaust and mass murder and genocides happened in 1932 and was that way from the start. It was incremental. Every moral atrocity came through one small compromise after the other. Restricting civil liberties for some turned to restricting civil liberties for all. Hitler rules from 1932 to 1945... that was over a decade. It was a decade of German minds slowly being twisted to accept everything as 'normal' and a natural evolution. Hitler and the Nazis could've happened and could happen to any country and any people. The worst of the Nazis I condemn. The everyday Germans who were manipulated or wanted to believe all the evil they were doing was for something better... In condemn them too, but I pity them because I know it could've happened to anyone. We are all just a handful of compromises from being the Nazis.

So Lt. Meehan was the commander who replaced Sobel (Ross from Friends). Lt. Meehan was killed before he even got out of the plane. He was played by Jason O'Mara from Agents of Shield. Also Sergeant Evans played by Simon Pegg also died when the plane blew up.

You are very correct Mickey... while Sobel sucked in combat, the men of Easy attributed their success to his ruthless training. They said, "He made Easy".... even tho they hated him. You are also correct, Suraj... The first days of the invasion there was an order that we didn't have the resources to have POW... Remember, Guarnere had just learned that his brother was killed. So he was on a mission to kill as many Germans as possible during D-Day. ---Trivia Time!--- The attack on Brecourt Manor was significant because of it's execution. Winters only took 12 men while the Germans had over 50. But because of the execution, the Germans thought they were being overwhelmed by a larger force which had a significant effect. Malarkey asking that one German POW "Where are you from, son?" was him doing General Eisenhower. He had come in to inspect the 101st and to every paratrooper he met, he shook their hand and asked "Where are you from, son?" That leg bag that everyone lost was a British invention that they adopted. It failed because they were dropping way too low and too fast. So the wind blast from the propeller was so strong that it ripped the bag off. A significant amount of people lost this bag. Something from the previous episode. The term "blousing your trousers" is sticking your pants into your boots, which was uniquely a paratrooper thing. You weren't allowed to do that unless you had earned your wings. People had full on fist fights about this.
