Permissive Circumstance Rules
Added 2021-03-26 05:00:59 +0000 UTCI know for a fact that a lot of people are enjoying Permissive Circumstances. I know this because I get happy messages of thanks from followers daily, no matter the result.
In today's Eunoia I mentioned a question I received about saving "wins" for another day:
"May an earned release be saved and used on a day when I failed to earn a release by permissive circumstance?"
I promised to take the temperature of the room, you can express your opinion below.

How about if a saved release is wanted or needed a request must be submitted each time a saved request is desired. Being mindful of Mistress Elswyth time limitations no response means permission to save denied. If Mistress Elswyth chooses to respond would be either completely arbitrary or if Mistress Elswyth desires a teaching or training moment.

Delay of gratification, which could be characterized as its own form of gratification is weighed against claiming agency over the timing of gratification. How much agency does it please Mistress to provide? Obviously, there will be a range among us in terms of how that meets our needs (for some, the availability that level of control may detract from the experience), but does Mistress gain something from granting this option or, conversely, do we gain something that Mistress wishes to grant? It makes me think of the distinction between being restrained versus being told to lie still. The latter provides more flexibility and agency and yet provides greater opportunity to yield control rather than have it taken. Which does Mistress prefer?
