Just a reminder that I'm still "mostly away" until (likely) Thursday. My home office is nicely packed and waiting to be moved to the new place, along with almost everything else. Doing various odds & ends with social distancing has required some creative thinking and eaten up a lot of time. I'm counting the minutes at this point and looking forward to being settled and back to a routine.
Homework: July's Token setting is going to require a coin.
I have considered requiring Americans to find a pound coin and for British folks to find a dollar coin... and for those in neither country to be allowed to find either a British pound coin or American dollar coin. However, the British pound is common compared to the American dollar coin.. so perhaps a £2 coin would be the balance there.
Anyone up for a coin hunt? Or we could be incredibly fair and find a currency that nobody uses (anyone in Mexico? Pesos?). The point being it should be a coin out of the ordinary and needs two different sides -- which I think is a given for most currency anyway. You'll find out WHY you need heads & tails later in July.
The new microphone and recording area will be set up next week and I'll record the July token -- that is also when I'll start on the July files. A few have already given me feedback, others haven't. If you have ideas please send them my way.
Contact will be sporadic, but I'm sure you understand. It is all leading to much better and July will be fantastic for us.

I'll get the box so that I can list them for your perusal... okay I'm back. :) 25c and $1 from USA 10p from UK 10c, 20c and 50c from New Zealand 10c from Fiji 1 peso from The Philippines 20 francs from New Caledonia 5 baht from Thailand (I finally identified this one just now) 10 pfennig from Germany (out of circulation since the euro and very tarnished) Australian Penny (out of circulation since the transition to decimal currency in the 1960s)

By the way, it finally occurred to me to look up the name Elswyth and I was delighted to learn that it's derived from the Old English words for temple & mighty. With a name like that, who needs titles anyway? :)

I'm liking the idea of going for this coin. I was looking for something else but came across this one that feels meaningful of some of the things we've been doing. Was it fate? Maybe not.. but I feel I should go ahead with it.
