Ahhh Daniel the MFC Jiwoo aka Han So-Hee seems sooo familiar because she was the actress in Jungkook's mv "Seven" hehehe. and I ADORE this show so much, she is such a good actress as she does all of her stunts (she became the youngest assistant martial arts instructor at Seoul Institute of Arts and got a certificate last month!! ) love her ;) Thank you soo much for this-

Nice surprise... its a really good drama. Although I would love to see you watch something in the completely opposite direction as next show. To many depressing, dark and traumatizing shows in a row. Something lighthearted, feel good and fun would be a nice change up. Something like... "I'm Not A Robot" (one of my absolute favorites) or of course the usual suspects like "Business Proposal". As for "My Name": It's all about the character drama, the tension and great action. Nothing revolutionary new or surprising, but really well acted and choreographed. The cast did most of their own action stunts which includes the main actress. She trained for months at an action school, building up muscle and gaining over 20 pounds for the role to be believable as somebody who could move as if she was capable of incapacitating professional killers.

I agree with you DG nowadays in the West there are not many female roles that are complemented because many of these roles are poorly written and rotten by politics and woke ideology. or the most important thing is to have a major female role no matter if the role or the film is good. we have had to endure a lot of very bad films with female leads because of this, the latest Star Wars trilogy with Mary Sou Rey, Captain Marvel, Madam Web, the Acolyth etc... whereas before women had major roles that were very well written and very appreciated, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, Demi Moore in G.I Jane, Sigourney Weaver in Aliens, Jodie Foster in Panic Room or the Silence of the Lambs, and dozens of other actresses who had leading roles in action films and series, Jennifer Gardner in Alias, Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jessica Alba in Dark Angel etc... my youth was rocked by incredible actresses who had leading roles, and I'm not talking about Korean actresses like Han So-hee, Sejeong, Lee Si-young and many others.

insanly great surprise, did you do a survey for that? did i miss something or is this a spontaneous reaction? because i took a week off and i haven't caught up with all your reactions yet. but whatever in the end it's a good surprise this show is a very very good action show, a police drama like we know how to do them well.
-oh ok so it's your choice of show good choice.
- i understand you DG i love dramas and movies that are a bit dramatic and tortured, thrillers in particular (Seven, Basic instinct, Bone collector, Hannibal, Dexter, Flower of Evil, Mouse, Gap dong or the brand new series that i'm currently following "the frog") are the type of series and movies that i love. but yes we should also one day watch lighter dramas but all as interesting like Business proposal (with our beloved national Sejeong) or my Roomate is a Gumyo (with Lee Hyeri) which are also very nice .
-so I love this show which is part of the shows that I often recommended in the polls.
- I love Jiwoo who is a true survivor it takes incredible courage to survive and endure everything she has been through. this drama is a pure Korean drama as I like them without frills the actors are all incredible
- here is the cast of the show
- Han so hee who plays Jiwoo is an actress and a model of great renown she started her career only 7 years ago but she is already incredibly popular and bankable she has received multiple awards for her acting performances
best female hope, best new actress, best rising star, best supporting role etc ... and she has become a celebrity very appreciated by South Koreans. - Park hee-soon who plays Choi moo-jin (the gangster leader) very good actor who played the leader of a gang in the movie "The family" since this role he has regularly played in gangster movies he has received many awards as an actor he has won almost all of them he has played in movies that I love like "The witch" and monstrum I think you have seen the Witch DG he was the bad guy in the movie.
- Kim sang-ho (the cop) another great actor who has played in particular in moby dick, running man, sea fog, wonderfull nightmare and especially (lookout or the Guardian another drama of the same quality as My, name)
- and DG I may be going too far but I think that when you have finished this drama it will become one of your favorite Korean dramas among all those you have seen I would say maybe top 3. whether it's the storyline, the twists, the narration, the acting and the completely crazy action and fight scenes I think you loved it and the end of the drama is incredibly good.

Damn it Daniel, I was going to use this free time to catch up on my other shows like The Sarah Jane Adventures and the Chinese adaptation of The Three Body Problem 😂
- So people are annoyed at Jiwoo because... she exists in the same room as them? Jiwoo is the one getting bullied but apparently SHE's the problem? Talk about victim blaming.
- FUCK THEM UP.
- Ok, now I need to know what the hell happened for her dad to end up like this.
- The detectives in Flower of Evil were very much the exception, not the rule.
- FUCK OFF WITH YOUR VICTIM BLAMING OH MY GOD
- Gotta love these super “competent” and “empathetic” cops. The story you've just told reminds me of what I've heard many times from women in my country who had to deal with stalkers. Basically cops would tell them that, as long as nothing physical happens, they will not intervene. Fucking amazing.
Oh, and have I already mentioned that the German police force is FULL of Nazis? Well, I guess violent bigots with power fantasies are drawn to jobs where they can indulge in said fantasies without fear of consequence.
This country is fucked, y'all.
- Come on dude, was the slap really necessary?
- Let me just say right now, I can't wait to see her transformation into a ruthless killing machine.
- Well, as of now she's still way too naïve.
- Okay, at least the gangster boss came around.
- One minute into the den and the guys there already get creepy and pedophilic. Great.
- What happens sometimes with female-lead action movies is that the main character was basically written to be a man and then just played by a woman. That's not really interesting. I'd rather have someone like Ellen Ripley, who is very capable in a quite gender-neutral way, without eliminating her femininity.
Or Evelyn Wang from Everything Everywhere all at Once. She becomes this badass action hero but her whole character is informed by her identity as a middle aged Chinese immigrant in America who stuggles with her taxes and her relationship to her daughter.
I could go on. Laura/X-23 from Logan is another great example.
I don't need Generic Action Guy No. 256 that happens to be played by a female actress.
I don't need Generic Action Guy No. 256 played by a male actor either. That's equally as boring. I just want interesting characters.
- About the struggle and The Uncanny Counter. It's not just Hana. Before he became this unkillable god in season 2, So Mun went through a shit ton of hardships in the first season. It's a very gender neutral thing. Adversity makes for better character arcs. “Perfect” main characters are boring.
One of my personal favourite characters in all of fiction is Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles. He may be the “chosen one” or whatever and he literally has the power to see the future and change it accordingly. But he gets way too up in his head about it. Completely overthinks everything until it's already to late to actually do something. It takes him quite a while before he can use his future sight really effectively.
- So with all that in mind, for that final fight: I kinda hope that Jiwoo doesn't win it yet. It would feel a bit strange for her to already be the best one in there by the start of episode 2. But let's wait and see!
Guess I was also rambling on for way too long about unrelated things. Oh well 😅

Oh I'm so hyped right now! I love this show and it was not what I was expecting you to pick but I'm so happy you did. You were right about this being another dark show :)
I was expecting the Glory.
I wasn't expecting anything this week either. Please always feel free to take a week off I don't want you to miss out on a break in the future.
Han So Hee is the actress in this show. She was in the MV of Seven by Jungkook. She's a popular actress who's been in a lot of shows but you haven't seen any of her other dramas yet.
Yes, we are back to normal kdrama detectives. A man is murdered but since he's a criminal they just close the case. Also the detective making Jiwoo think that it's all her fault that her dad was murdered. Great work.
I love Han So Hee in this show. She does her own fighting and it's filmed in such a way that you can see that it's her fighting and they're not hiding her face so a stunt double could do it. The action in this is better than most movies these days were it's either shaky cam or they cut it so much that you can't even see what's happening.
What you're talking about is the Mary Sue trope. It doesn't have to be a woman but any character that is just great at everything when they have no reason to be. In this they show that Jiwoo is capable of defeating a few highschool girls but she can't beat the guys in the alley and can't beat the gang member. And then she goes through intense training for probably months or years in order to learn how to fight. Also private lessons with the boss helps.
Jiwoo is assigned the dishes and laundry because she's the youngest. The other guy was previously the one who had to do the chores. The other guys are still being sexist assholes but Koreans love to pick on the maknaes.
This is a made for netflix show so it's shorter and every episode ends in such a way to make you want to binge the whole show in a day.
