General :
- Always keep your hand clean and dry.
Dirty and wet hands will ruin your work as many people will rest their drawing hand on their drawing paper. Unless you keep your hand afloat which pretty uncomfortable.
- Practice make perfection.
If you hate to practice, just draw it regularly or draw it as you please. Recommending to have a drawing book so you can draw anything in there at any time and any moment.
- Art is all about balancing.
What your artstyle will be or when will you get stuck at your practice or how to deal with negative feedbacks, are very difficult to define. But generally, you need to balance on how you create an artwork and how to make people understand it.
- Art is person-based than tool-based.
A better tools can make a better work, but mostly it's based on a skill of the person. So choose drawing tools that suit you rather its quality.
Pencil :
- Don't press your pencil to much!
you can draw by lightly touch your pencil on paper and slighly press it to make a darker line. If you press your pencil too much, it will become too thick to be erased and left an unwanted scratch and smug on paper, which will disrupt eventually ruin your work.
Furthermore a lighter line is more beautiful and easier to be erased.
- For beginer, use a mechanical pencil.
Recommending a light, cheap, no "pipe" at its head, and made of plastic one for easy maintenance and replaceable.
- Use lead with light hardness that create less smug.
Recommending B or HB lead. Also 2B or greater lead can make smug on paper when erased if you press it on paper too hard.
- Hold your pencil right.
The way how you grabing your pencil can effect your artstyle. But generally, just hold it like you try to write a letter.
Eraser :
- Drawing skill can be determined by eraser.
If a person uses his eraser a lot, it could be that the person can't draw, especially if the paper was rip apart by erasing a lot.
- Avoid using erasers if possible.
Erasers can damage your paper or make a smug, especially a cheap one. Some eraser will left a smug on itself if erasing a lot. Recommending to check and clean it before use or you will find a trail of black dead that ruins your work forever.
- Use plastic eraser!
Or an expensive one that left no smug and very soft. A cheap eraser is a big no-no unless you use it on erasing a light drafting line.
- Don't press your eraser to much!
Lightly touch the paper and erase an unwanted line. If you can't erase it, it meant that you press your pencil too hard.
